I’ve seen this trend floating around Bookstagram from time to time, so I wanted to give it a go for the spooky season!

How cute is my mug?! I feel like it suits southern hemisphere Halloween vibes perfectly since it’s spring down here, not autumn.

I’ve tagged a few of you, but everyone should give this challenge a go! Pick your favourite mug and see if you can find books on your shelves to match it!

Books featured:

👻 Boy Parts by Eliza Clark @fancyeliza
👻 House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland @km_sutherland
👻 The Nocturnals by Frances Whiting @frankywhiting
👻 Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth @sallyhepworth

Boy Parts
by Eliza Clark
@fancyeliza
@faberbooks

Irina is in a rut. She obsessively takes explicit photographs of average-looking men she scouts from the streets of Newcastle while her dead-end bar job slips away; she’s more interested in drugs, alcohol, and extreme cinema. When she’s offered an exhibition at a fashionable London gallery which promises to revive her career in the art world, it should feel like an escape. But the news triggers a self-destructive tailspin, drawing in her obsessive best friend and a shy young man from her local supermarket who has attracted her attention…

Boy Parts is the incendiary debut novel from Eliza Clark, a pitch-black comedy both shocking and hilarious, fearlessly exploring the taboos of sexuality and gender roles in the twenty-first century.

House of Hollow
by Krystal Sutherland
@km_sutherland
@penguinbooksaus

Iris Hollow and her two older sisters are unquestionably strange. As children, they disappeared on a Scottish city street only to return a month later with no memory of what had happened to them or where they’d been. More troubling, their appearance began to change: their blue eyes now black, their dark hair now white. And as they grew older, odd, eerie occurrences seemed to follow in their wake. People find them disturbingly intoxicating, unbearably beautiful, and inexplicably dangerous.
Now seventeen-year-old Iris is doing all she can to fit in and graduate high school on time—something her two famous, glamorous, globe-trotting older sisters, G

Half-Arse Human: How to Live Better Without Burning Out
by Leena Norms

Leena Norms is a half-arser. A shave-one-legger. A rinse-the-plates-and-tell-herself-any-residual-dirt-will-improve-her-immune-system-er. And yet, she is determined to live better, build a career, strengthen her relationships, be good to her body, sort out her wardrobe, find meaningful hobbies, act on her ethics, and live a full, passionate, varied life.

And it’s possible. Half-Arse Human will show you to harness the power of considered chaos and upgrade the parts of your life that really matter, without expending more than you have to give. Trying to be superhuman is out - being a half-arse human is in. Find out why living a life of slap-dash isn’t as shameful as it seems; in fact, it might be the key to living the life you’ve always wanted. In a world of high-flyers, let’s at least get you in the air.

A Man Called Ove
by Fredrik Backman

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell.” But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?

Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morn

I’ve seen this trending on Bookstagram lately, so I had to get in on the fun. I discovered how to add gifs to my posts on Canva, so look out while I hyper fixate on this feature, Bookstagram!

The sunflower photos were taken years ago, but I enjoy their aesthetic so much, I had to use them!

This is not an extensive list of all the books I love, but I still had to have three slides dedicated to some of them!

QOTD: Do we share a similar taste in books?

turns four! 🥹

Four years ago, I started this account to connect with others who enjoy the same as me, and it has grown amounts that I’m eternally grateful, and I’m glad I took the plunge when I did 🫶🏻

I always cherish the friendships I’ve made over these years, purely for the love of books and so much more, so many genuine, kind friendships that I know will last a lifetime 🥹

And to the authors I’ve been able to discover, love and being able to connect with them personally is another thing before I started didn’t think would be possible! So to all of you, I love and appreciate you all so much! 😍

Here are some of my fav moments from year three 🫶🏻

And to @author.samantha.barrett @authorstephmacca @sheridan.anne.author @chapteredwithdh @reads_with_dani @kalliopithemuse @yazg.books @talesofthiviya @kerriesbooked @its_madzbooks I love you all so much xx

Today's the winter solstice here in Australia.
Finally after tonight the days will start getting longer and hopefully a bit warmer!

Can't believe I've posted this many monthly stacks in a row, I deserve a medal! 💁‍♀️
It did take me a LONG time to find the ONLY J book I own ...prepare to see it and The Unhoneymooners for the July stack to. Or is this a good opportunity to buy a new book or 2? 👀

J - Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edogawa Rampo
U - (The) Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
N - Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder
E - Enchantra by Kaylie Smith

Tagging some of my darlings because I love a monthly stack but please join if you want and don't if you don't 🫀🖤

As we all know, I'm not a fan of rainbows.
But since I am queer myself, I always want to join in and make a post for pride month.
So instead of a rainbow stack, here's a stack filled with queer authors and/or books featuring queer characters.

(I used to watch the music video for this song on REPEAT when I was 8 years old ...took me another 5 years to figure out I like women too)

Books:
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle
My Darling Dreadful Thing by Johanna Van Veen
The Spirit Bares its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling (my CR)
Hexed by Emily Mcintire
Swordheart by T. Kingfisher
The Poisoner by I. V. Ophelia
Hungerstone by Kat Dunn

Can you guess the 1 book out of these that I haven't read?

As always, I'm going to tag some of my faves so we can all share the love this pride month 🫀🖤
