👋 Welcome back!

It’s been a busy September as a new academic year gets underway, with our campuses buzzing with new and returning students.

This month, we’ve climbed the university rankings, celebrated an inspiring radiography educator, seen our Wild House at the V&A and explored new approaches to sustainable design and dyslexia.

Here’s our September roundup! ☝️

“What was your first year in business really like?”

Messy.

That was my immediate answer when @joncard23 from Full Story Media asked me this during our conversation for his new podcast, Something Got Me Started.

Jon has a real knack for getting beyond the polished founder story and into the parts that actually matter.

It took me back around 18 years.

You start with a business plan. Then customers, cash flow, suppliers, people and reality begin rewriting it for you.

Looking back, I understand something much better now:

The first year isn’t really about perfecting the business. It’s about surviving long enough to learn what the business actually needs to become.

A short clip from our conversation ahead of the full podcast.

For the founders here what one word would you use to describe your first year?

The best networking never feels like networking.

Just good people, real conversations, plenty of laughs and relationships that grow from there.

Thank you @tara.j.rogers for capturing the spirit of The Big Fat Greek Club so perfectly, and to @natwest_business Accelerator for backing the community.

Three years on, it’s still about what it was always meant to be: good people, genuine conversations and meaningful connections.

Founders @penina.biz Shepherd and @kyriakos_baxevanis recently sat down with the brilliant @podcastroombrighton to reflect on the journey so far and what has kept The Big Fat Greek Club special.

This Friday, we kick off Year 4 🇬🇷🔥

Supported by @natwest_business Accelerator, in association with the @uniofbrighton in support of @rockinghorse67 .
