DAY FIVE. What a special day yesterday was for so many reasons! I loved getting to meet and hug other writers and so many wonderful readers too. It really is such a joy for me! A huge thank you to @bhbkenosha for putting on such an incredible event and to @mykpl for welcoming me into your beautiful library! Libraries have always been so near and dear to my heart and getting to visit so many this week has been so amazing.

And there was another special part of yesterday! My grandparents, aunt and cousin surprised me and getting to share this moment with them on the last day of this stretch of the tour was everything. Make sure to swipe to see the exact moment I realized they were there. I’m so glad it was caught on video and I’ve already watched it more times than I can count with the biggest smile on my face.

Up next: HOME! I’m so excited to hug my kids again. I’ll also be making a few more signing stops today so be on the lookout.

What a great day to be in Kenosha, Wisconsin! Thank you so much to @bhbkenosha @mykpl for hosting us and to all the readers who came out and made it an event to remember. I LOVED hanging out with @brijett , @ashleyhintermeyerwrites , @meganderson.writes , @janashawrites and a special shoutout to Meg Anderson’s Jon who saved the day by taking such awesome pictures!

Show me two books that go better together… I’ll wait! 🍄🪾🥀

If you’ve been following me for .5 seconds you know how much I love Human Scars On Planet Skin by Nathaniel Luscombe and Effie Joe Stock!! ( @nathaniel.luscombe & @effie.joe.stock.author )

That book has opened so many doors and different interests for myself… definitely one of my top influential books of ALL TIME!!!

If you don’t know, Human Scars On Planet Skin is about a sentient planet that’s home to nonbinary mushroom people that are working through their grief and trauma from the damage colonizer humans did before the planet said enough and killed them or made them evacuate and leave.

You’ve got body horror, community, grief, loss, healing… it’s an amazing book and you should definitely pick it up!!

Yesterday, I finished Under A Carnivore Sky by Brianna Jett! ( @brijett )
I picked it up because 1. The cover is so gorgeous! And 2. Plant horror is MY JAM!! 🤩

It’s a story about a small town that has been trapped and isolated by the surrounding swamp and monster that lurks inside, eating the people little by little. Following the daughter of the town’s ostracized monster hunter family, she meets a friend (maybe more?) who gives her hope and renewed motivation to defeat the monster, save her dying father and find a way out with her new partner- in swamp navigating- crime.
It’s told completely through poems! I thought that was SO cool and creative!

I throughly enjoyed both books and am so stoked to have them on my shelf next to eachother!!
Also look at how cool the spredges are on both books!! 😍🤤

Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone who will listen!!!! (And especially to my fellow horror/ weird sci fi plant book fans!)

This weekend was my first time at @yamidwest, and I am so grateful for everyone who attended my panels, stopped by my table, brought a book to sign, or just said hi 🥹 Thank you to the readers, volunteers, and to @andersonsbookshop for the wonderful weekend and to @getunderlined for championing my Hawaiian gothic (I can’t believe I ended the weekend with only one copy of TWFU left?! 😭💕)

it was incredible to walk around to different panels and listen to so many stories, take in some writing advice, and treasure the life lessons YA stories carry.

YAM has become one of my favorite conventions. @andersonsbookshop brings together the very best group of authors. I always come away with new friends, and am delighted to see old ones.

It is SUCH an affirming reminder that the author world is a community, and it’s one I’m extremely proud to be part of.
