Celebrating one year of being a salon loft owner and moving my business to Frederick!!! 🩷🥲
It has truly been one of the most satisfying years of my life. In December 2024, My husband and I serendipitously found our dream home that we wanted to raise our family in. We were living in Baltimore city at the time with my then 2 + 3 yr olds, a place I will always hold dear to my heart. We moved to Frederick in Feb 2025, a community that we fell in love with instantly! My plan was to commute into Baltimore 2-3 days/wk for at least a year and was a non negotiable at the time. Things changed and I quickly realized I was completely burnt out and overwhelmed not being able to assimilate with my community. 11 hr days turned into 14 hr days with the commute and trying to turn a full schedule into only a couple days/wk looked like always needing to add another day + double booking every client. My father was critically ill and in and out of the hospital, my husband traveling for work, and being so far from my kids on days that I worked made me soooo anxious. I desperately did not want to let anyone down, I had worked so hard to build what I already had and this turned into me having to abrubtly stop working in Baltimore and needing to take the summer of 2025 off entirely.
This has been a personal reminder that sometimes we forget the person behind the screen or service is human and often experiencing their own real successes and struggles just trying to live their best life. After that Summer off, I realized how much I LOVE doing hair, creating, sharing spaces and how much I wanted to build my own space to share with with others.. Since then I have put a tremendous amount of purpose, love and intention into what I am building. I am thankful for the new friendships made and those that have become richer, for your business, and for some your forgiveness. I’m so immensely grateful for what I have and so in awe of the growth, support and kindness that people are capable of.
xoxo, k

Debut Album from @thewitnessindex Now Available! Link in bio.

In October 2024, I asked @brittolsenecker if she wanted to write some songs together with no goals or expectations other than let’s be creative, record something and see what happens. These are the songs we built together over many, many hours. I’m endlessly grateful for her ideas, her talent, her time, her passion, and her selflessness. Making this record has been the most fun I’ve ever had playing music.

This project wouldn’t be what it is without all the incredible people who lent their talents @mikebusch_ Kit Karlson, Derek Weigman, @tonemasters_ @adjectiveanimal.music steve.parke

Extra special thanks to Steve Wright @wrightwaystudios For your incredible patience, your openness to trying any idea, and for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I learned an insane amount working with you this past year!

Thanks for listening!
