POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I hope everyone has been enjoying our beautiful October weather window and getting outside a bit.

This past Thursday I had a delightful day teaching “Nature-Induced Value Sketching”—a form of art therapy I think we could all benefit from—along the Middle Fork Greenway in Blowing Rock with a great group of participants. Blowing Rock Art & History Museum graciously sponsored and promoted this event as a part of their “Art in the Outdoors” series and we hope to offer further opportunities in this category.

Stay tuned to my Instagram and Facebook sites if you’re interested in what might arise for experiencing art-making in the great outdoors! @brmuseum #watercolor #artinnature #weswaugh #middleforkgreenway #blowingrock @brconservancy @journeyartstuff

Happy Friday, friends! 🎉

⛰️=❤️

We are back from our short but sweet trip to #blueridgemountains and today I’ll be sharing some pictures from our trip. 💜

What’s better than one fabulous and free art museum? TWO! 😮 We experienced another amazing art AND history museum in #blowingrocknc at the BRAHM @brmuseum . We learned about the history of Blowing Rock, NC, as well as seeing many incredible exhibits by talented artists!! 🎨🖼️

Spreading sunshine at this year’s ARS POETICA IV @brmuseum It’s a regional exhibition where the jurors select and pair submitted artworks with poetry. Such a playful concept! Here’s a detail from my piece “Convergence.” View the online gallery & vote for your favorite pairing via the gallery website (and I’ll also link from my stories this week!)

Let’s talk about fall in Blowing Rock 🍁🏔️

Crisp air, a cozy, a charming downtown with delicious restaurants and unique shops, and close to amazing hikes. I updated my full guide to this Blue Ridge Mountains gem — hiking trails, wineries, can’t-miss restaurants, and where we stayed (say hi to resident ducks 🦆). Save this for your next mountain getaway!

Photo dump from #SEMC75 🏛️ We visited super cool museums and historic sites such as The Hickory Museum of Art, Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, Blowing Rock Art and History Museum, Old Salem Museums and Gardens, Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Kaleideum, and the Reynolda House Museum of American Art. I also met some super cool people, reconnected with colleagues, listened in on some amazing sessions, AND! gave a presentation on ALMNH’s Excavating Erasure: Jefferson Davis Jackson exhibit. GLAM work is GLAMorous ✨

Every design begins with an idea that soon evolves into sketches to translate “talkatecture” into architecture. The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum was a delightful collaboration with @cjmw_architecture to produce a structure to house an impressive regional art collection while weaving into the architectural fabric of the village.

When Mother Nature has a story to tell, we are called to listen. 🗻🌲

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting Stephan Dragisic and Gabe Wilson-Rhodes from the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum for our latest Speaker Series event.

Together we celebrated America’s 250th Anniversary by exploring the landscapes that make our country the beautiful place that we call home. We also had the opportunity to learn more about the mission of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum to preserve local art and history.

Thank you to Stephen Dragisic and Gabe Wilson-Rhodes for the wonderful presentation! 👏

Two paintings found new homes during this year’s Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival. I’m grateful to everyone who stopped by, followed along, and supported my work.
Thank you!
