***Attention FOSTER and/or ADOPTION needed***
These two handsome gentlemen were found on August 19, 2021, abandoned in the basement of a closed store. They were left to starve, but thankfully, their cries were heard by people walking by and we were called in. Currently they are living happily in the bathroom of a rescuers home - she has 10 cats of her own and has to hold them there until we find a foster or an adopter. They are both incredibly sweet and affectionate boys who would love to be an addition to your family. If you are interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt this sweet, playful, and friendly pair please reach out to us. Imagine giving them a home they can run and play in - what a gift to be a part of their happy ending this holiday season. 🐱🐱

Dear Internet,  I hope this message finds you as thrilled as I am in anticipation for the clock to strike 12! My understanding is that we’ll all turn to pumpkins at the stroke of midnight.

While I eagerly await this vegetable phenomenon, my brother Tamale pitter-pattered to my side. He cleared his throat. “Mishka, Brooklyn Animal Action (BAA) reported that you’re the most expensive kitten they’ve EVER cared for.” I blinked.

Woo-Hoo! I’ve made history!

I’ve been wondering what possible contribution I could make in this lifetime. As I reflect back on 2020, I realize that being dropped off at Mum’s doorstep was a stroke of pure luck for BAA. With me around, there was never a dull moment.

Let me run down the list in descending order of dullness:

12. Ear and eye infections
11. Dental tartar buildup
10. Undeveloped vocal cords
9. Pectus Excavatum – chest skeletal anomalies; breathing difficulties, sporadic body convulsions
8. Thoracic Spinal abnormalities
7. Umbilical Hernia
6. Abnormal Lungs
5. Cooties… uhm… Ringworm - Cootie quarantine for 68 days, 10 hours, 40 minutes and 54 seconds, but who’s counting?
4. Enlarged Heart w/ hole and congenital murmur
3. Enucleation - right eye removal
2. Bladder Issues - inability to urinate for weeks w/o Mum palpating bladder
1. The Cone of Shame - physical & emotional trauma from torture device is immeasurable

I probably have other incurable diseases known & unknown to man but IG has a text limit. When my health issues unfolded, no one suspected that I would survive past a few weeks into my fostering.

Like my health bills, I have far exceeded everyone’s expectations!

Kittens with congenital health issues aren’t usually given the same chances as I am. Normally, if we survive after birth, our options boil down to what’s easy and merciful. As delighted as I am to make a dent in BAA’s finances, I am also proud to highlight the plight of special-needs kittens.

For all of you who have held my paw through my health journey, I’m forever humbled by your kindness and compassion. Thank you for giving me the gift of possibilities and chances.

As you step into the new year, I wish you all the same.

All the best,
Mishka
