20 minute “sitting” with Stephanie in Brooklyn to kick off this photoshoot marathon as we spent maybe 5 minutes actually taking photos and the rest of the time talking about how amazing Willem Dafoe is at untraditional posing. So I guess he inspired this set in some way.

If you’ve ever cringed at a photo of yourself, I get it. Sometimes it’s not easy to look at ourselves and see all the changes we’re going through in midlife.

This is exactly why I sat down with award-winning photographer Stephanie Bordas for The Style Evolution. I knew she’d have sound advice for feeling more confident on camera.

We talked about so much, starting with practical tips like flattering angles and the distance you need from the camera to look most like yourself. (I didn’t realize how much the lens can distort our view!)

But what I love most is how she reframes the whole idea of being photogenic. It’s not just about how you look, it’s about your relationship with the camera. And once you understand a few easy things about how cameras work, you’re going to take better pictures.

I’ve been quiet on here for a few months - been working on a very different kind of project. Happy to say that after 9 months of work, it’s coming out exactly as I hoped it would 🥰

Plot twist: the girl in her 20’s writing poems in her notes app at 2am ended up in @nylonmag 📝✨

Authenticity has always been one of my deepest values. The people closest to me know this isn’t just something I say, it’s something I live.

There are two things I refuse to do: betray myself and conform. Yes, I can be a bit stubborn in my beliefs 😜 I will always choose truth over acceptance, alignment over approval, and staying true to myself over becoming someone I’m not. If that means I have to stand alone, then so be it. Sovereignty is a way of life for me.

This is a promise I made to myself, to the people I love, and to the community I’m building: to keep showing up as authentically as possible, even when it’s uncomfortable, even when it’s misunderstood.

Because the greatest power comes from having the courage to remain yourself in a world that constantly asks you to become something else.

March to the beat of your own drum always 🦄♒️
