To GOD be ALL the glory! On May 17, 2025, my younger twin sisters and I graduated from our respective colleges with our respective degrees in our respective programs (whew! Lol)🙏🏼

I graduated with my Master of Science degree in Journalism and a teaching certificate from West Virginia University. 📰👩🏽‍🏫This is the second and, most likely, final academic degree that I will have pursued in my career field (Thank you, Jesus🤲🏼 and 🥷🏽 we made it)! 🎉

My younger sister Brooklyn (the older of the twins on the right) graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Spelman College. ⚛️ My younger sister Isis graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Spelman College as well.⚕️

Congrats to us, ladies! 👏🏽🥂

There is so much I can say about this long and arduous journey. However, I have decided to simply share a portion of what is written on my acknowledgments page from my 225-page-long Master's thesis titled "Counter Framing the Majoritarian Narrative: A Hermeneutical Analysis of the Media Coverage of the Lynching of Jesse Washington" (which has now been published online -- making me a published author in my career field and academia alike -- and can be located exclusively in scholarly databases and, for now, primarily in my university's online repository):

First and foremost, I thank God.

I also acknowledge the personal commitment it took to reach this milestone.

I extend my deepest gratitude to my thesis committee.

To my family—thank you for always rooting for me, even from afar. To my other peers, friends, and everyone in between: thank you for
supporting me on this journey and for tolerating my often abnormal absence from your lives
while I navigated this chapter of my life. 🥹😅😭

What a year! I am so thankful that despite everything that has happened, my family is safe, and that I could matriculate in graduate school not once but twice! (Master's degree, here I come!)

2020 was indeed a year of vision, and although it wasn't what we expected-it was necessary❗🙏🏼

We are BLACK WOMEN!...We have a VOICE....We don't tear down other BLACK WOMEN!...We have felt the pain of NOT BEING HEARD and we have decided that we will be deliberate about building others! If I didn't tag you, please don't be offended. I tried to pick people that would do this challenge!! All too often, we women find it easier to criticize each other, instead of building each other up. With all the negativity going around, let's do something positive!!🌟 Upload 1 picture of yourself-ONLY you! Then tag as many sisters to do the same. Let's build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down. 💛💛 COPY AND PASTE 💛💛
