Put on your Disco pants for Xanadu the musical that just opened at West Valley Arts last Friday, and runs through June 27th. Brooklyn Kohler, the Director, and Janessa Zech, a star of the show joined us in the studio to share the exciting details.

Kohler tells us that Xanadu is based on the 80’s hit movie, about a muse that’s come to earth to inspire an artist. Chaos ensues with a cast on roller-skates portraying Greek muses with 80’s glitter fun.

Even those unfamiliar with the source material were very impressed and had a lot of fun. Xanadu is pure comedic 80’s nostalgia fun. Kohler says it was the first time on roller skates for almost all of the actors, giving everyone a new skill.

Xanadu runs now through June 27th. Shows are at 7:30 with Fridays and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and matinees at 3:00 pm

This show is packed with references to iconic songs, artists, movies, and musicals from the late ’70s and early ‘80s. The more you know, the funnier it gets—but even if you catch none of them, you’re still in for a wildly entertaining night.
