Day 18 - 65 miles. Fifteen clubs visited today!Stirling County, Livingston, Currie, Forrester, Corstorphine, Royal High, Murrayfield Wands, Boroughmuir, Watsonians, Edinburgh Accies, Edinburgh Northern, Inverleith, Strewarts Melville, Broughton & Heriots.
What could have been a challengie turned in to fun day in the company of some proper cyclists, who also happen to be great rugby men : Iwan Tukalo, Mike Hall, Stevie Douglas, Graham Shiel, Bruce Reekie and John Davidson.
Not only were they a great escort but they knew the cycle paths of Edinburgh and I can’t thank them enough for taking the time to accompany me today. We were well met at nearly every club and it was a nice touch by @corstorphinecougars to invite @harts_cyclery to come along to check the bikes.

When your opposition is short on a couple of props, the old boys get their boots on!
Big thanks to coach G.Pugh (estimated age of 48) and travelling Chard Rugby Club Vets player M.Duffy (58).
Both put their kit on so we could have competitive scrums against Altrincham.
Both shared their fond memories from when they played against Altrincham back in their heyday for Broughton, coincidentally meeting one of the former opposition players upon their return from supporting Altrincham firsts.
This is what rugby is about!

Not only did we have the U14s in action but the U16s too which was amazing to see. We had girls travel from Preston, Southport, Littleborough, Aldwinians and Broughton which saw two mixed teams go head to head in colours v whites.

Littleborough split in half and were the base of two teams with the other clubs joining to play 13 v 13. Glossop joined the colours team and saw some excellent play from the Glossop players, the whites just took the lead with a 43-19 win. Again the Glossop players integrated into the teams amazingly and did us all so proud.

We are so pleased to finally of hosted a Northen Girls Network event and hope next season it will be bigger and better again. If you know any girls in High School who would like to give rugby a go, come and join us Wednesday nights at Glossop Rugby 18:30-19:30 🏉

We are Glossop Girls and we can’t wait to go again 💙
