Salt air, cypress shade, and the Pacific just past the dunes. On Saturday, the first @tidesandterroir Tasting by the Tides brought together Monterey Bay’s wine and food community on Asilomar’s Grand Cypress Meadow.

Two dozen wineries poured, local chefs served bites built from bay seafood and valley produce, makers and artists set up shop, and two surfboards were painted live on the meadow.

Thank you to all the chefs, vintners, and makers who joined us. And our gratitude to @earthboundfarm for the produce on every plate, Scott Caraccioli and Samantha Cooper of @CaraccioliCellars for helping build this from the first conversation, Ashley Wolff of @Jejukitchen and Hollie Jackson of @hjacksonevents for bringing the culinary and kitchens together, Sommelier extraordinaire Bernabe DeLuna, @ediblemontereybay, and @visitasilomar for a truly magical setting.

The first Tides & Terroir is in the books. See you next year on the coast.

The Santa Lucia Highlands turns 35 this year.

In 1991, we earned official AVA status — proof of something our growers already knew. Nicky Hahn, Jerry McFarland, and Rich Smith were planting vines here in the early 1970s, decades before the designation caught up to what they'd already figured out.

35 years in, the work isn't finished. We're still pushing for better quality, still thinking not just about the next 35 years, but the next 350.

Here's to our growers, winemakers, and everyone who's been part of the story.

The D.Law Concert Series returned last Friday, and it was one for the books.

@surenguitar and his band headlined the night and delivered an incredible performance.

We also brought in some incredible partners to round out the evening — @cousinsmainelobster and @bruliamwines — for a night of live music, great food, and great company.

At D.Law, we believe culture isn't just built while working. Moments like these are a big part of who we are.

Pizza Friday with this 2022 @bruliamwines pinot noir from the Nightwing Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap area of Sonoma County. Kerith Overstreet is the owner & winemaker who operates out of @grandcrucrush in Windsor. Kerith is one of my favorite winemakers in California and is a great wine friend. This one has a nose of ripe raspberry, mushroom & violets with flavors of black cherry, Earl Grey tea & citrus peel. Pizza courtesy of @squarepieguys in Palo Alto. I was tipped off to this pizza shop by a recent pizza review of @stoolpresidente at the SF location. Highly recommended.
