Part four of @lornabaileybbc's interview with me in which I discuss @alanmcgee93, @youthmartin_art, shyness, and pain in the context of Apex Predators, our debut album.

If you haven't heard @mamaftantonella's debut, stream it on all platforms to hear this week's international Radio Indie Alliance #1, Commercial Road/A Call to Light (inexplicably, @spotify cannot understand our band name, so just ask for "Apex Predators, the album").

Thank you so much, Lorna and the brilliant team at @bbc ♥️

MARK THE DATE: OCTOBER 30!

Yes, @mamaftantonella's very first Hallowe'en gig! We'll be on, bones and all, with the sublime @esorealle, and we will ALSO be playing an ENTIRELY NEW SONG ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you haven't heard our debut, stream it on all platforms (inexplicably, @spotify cannot understand our band name, so just ask for "Apex Predators, the album").

The gorgeous collector's first edition vinyl will soon be available - intense family and cat drama threw a spanner in our schedule - but we're gradually getting back on track. So:

✨✂️ Birmingham Craftivism campaign. Deadline 10th January 2025 ✂️✨

@knitonpurrrtwo • Working on something special for @brumlibraryzine Birmingham Loves Libraries campaign today ✨📚 I’ve become increasingly more passionate about Craftivism as an idea and how my creative practice can work with the ideas of @sarahpcorbett ‘s Manifesto so when I saw the Call to Arms yesterday from the Brum campaign I knew there was no way I couldn’t sign up. Colour and making help the healing process (and this cold has taken it out of me since Monday so I’m glad for something to focus on!)
Watch this space to see what this scrummy granny becomes! 🧶

@brumlibraryzine • Calling all Brum library-loving crafters! Your library campaign needs you!

Cabinet is due to make a decision about our libraries on January 21st. Before the vote, we want to send them a reminder of how much Birmingham loves libraries. ❤️

We want to give each of the 10 cabinet members a treasure to keep or gift back to their local libraries. A handcrafted gift that speaks to the solace, care and knowledge libraries offer to us all. We need your knitting, stitching, embroidery, crochet, and other crafting skills! If you, a friend or a group you know would like to make a gift manifesting our city’s love for libraries, please get in touch with us at birminghamloveslibraries@gmail.com. The deadline is tight (10th January) but we already know that you’re amazing.

Forward! 🪡💝

👋🏻 It’s been a long while since I participated in a zine/ art market (last one was probably in 2020 at TaiKwun?), and here I’m again! ☺️This is my first one this year with @hinzpak at @brumzinefest @thehivejq . Thank you so much for having us 📖🎨 It was so great to be part of the Festival and showing our works at The Hive!

Brum Zine Fest Photodump

Had a great time at my first ever Zine Festival! Thanks to @thehivejq @brumzinefest and @weirdo.zine for having me. Me and @naztoorabally hosted a badge making workshop which was super fun as well as running our stall for weirdo zine. Met a bunch of cool like-minded people, ate some great food, bought a bunch of zines and prints and just overall had a lot of fun

Had a go at Tetra pak printmaking at @BrumZineFest this weekend 🖍️✨🖨️

I drew my design out with a wooden tool and cut away the metallic layer with a craft knife. Inked up with water based relief ink and pressed in a pasta machine! 😊 I based the design off a sketchbook drawing

Thank you @GenerousWaste for running this workshop!

It’s about time the boy paid his way, he’s 19 in cat years and so it’s fair employment. He said he’d be fine selling his body and being a model, we agreed that if it was for a good cause, like education of the young then it would be fine. So tomorrow at @brumzinefest The Claude-phabet worked on since October 2022 will finally be on sale, to educate your young ones and animals. While we agree that education should be free, we didn’t want Claude to feel that he wasn’t worth paying for. So see you tomorrow with your monies.

I’ll be giving a talk and workshop at @brumzinefest tomorrow on how to set up a zine club! Brighton Zine Club is now over a year old and I’ll talking about how we can make a sustainable, decentralised community space for local zine makers in 5 easy steps! Thank you @theactorsbrighton for their space/being a core part of zine club! Come along tomorrow to @thehivejq for the zine fest and this workshop and ask me lots of questions ✨🌞
