On 6 June, Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe 2026 at the Harare Hippodrome. She is 26, a qualified pharmacist from Chitungwiza, and she carries a story that most pageant audiences never hear.

As a child, she knew food insecurity and malnutrition firsthand. She spoke about it openly at Miss World, during the Head-to-Head Challenge, in front of delegates from more than 100 countries. That honesty is the reason her platform, Tomorrow Starts Today, works the way it does. It does not stop at feeding people. It connects young people with those who can teach them real skills like cooking, tailoring and carpentry, while supporting education and food security. She reports that it has raised US$10,000 toward school fees for children who might otherwise have stayed home.

At the 75th Anniversary Miss World Festival in Vietnam, her project was one of 111 showcased, and Zimbabwe was named among the six African finalists in the Beauty With a Purpose challenge. Zimbabwean media reported it as Africa's winner and second globally. She finished in the Top 12, which the Herald described as one of Zimbabwe's strongest recent performances.

Beauty With a Purpose Africa 2026 - Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼

For Brunette Makanyiso, a child’s opportunity to stay in school can begin with something as simple as a uniform or help with school fees. Through her Beauty With a Purpose project, Tomorrow Starts Today, she raises funds to meet these needs, helping children from vulnerable communities continue their education.

Her work also supports young people as they prepare for life beyond the classroom. By promoting skills development and sustainable ways to earn a living, Brunette helps them gain the knowledge and confidence to build a more independent future.

Through school visits and community programs, she connects with young people and raises awareness of the risks of drug abuse. Tomorrow Starts Today brings together practical help, education, and encouragement, giving children and young people support to overcome the obstacles they face and pursue their ambitions.

Brunette is also the Overall Beauty With a Purpose Runner-up. She has reached the Top 12 at Miss World 2027.

Teen Rescue Mission Girls Welcome Miss World Zimbabwe 🇿🇼

It was a truly special and memorable day as the young girls of Teen Rescue Mission (TRM) proudly welcomed Miss World Zimbabwe home following her successful participation in the Miss World pageant, where she represented Zimbabwe and raised the national flag high.
The TRM girls brought a beautiful atmosphere of celebration to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, performing a special song they wrote and dedicated to Miss World Zimbabwe. Their heartfelt performance added a unique touch to the celebrations and made the homecoming even more memorable.
We are also proud that Miss World Zimbabwe continues to stand with Teen Rescue Mission as a volunteer, using her platform and influence to inspire and empower young people.
At TRM, we believe that when young people are given positive platforms, encouragement and opportunities, they can become powerful voices of change.
Teen Rescue Mission : NO to drugs, early pregnancy and crime.
