Our next graduating Senior is our Athletic Trainer Sasha. Sasha connection with the program goes back since the Fall 23 semester. He was roommates with Former GRFC President Dictator Gupta and their apartment was the the rugby hangout spot prior to Rugby House of 24-25. Sasha was always around the club during the 23-24 school year. During the 24-25 school year Poklad did a study abroad in the UK where his knowledge of rugby grew and love for the sport. During his time at SFSU Poklad work in the Athletics department as a trainer working with many of the sports teams. Following the 24-25 season the club was looking for a new Athletic Trainer and with Poklad returning to SFSU the GRFC asked if he would be down to help out. He said yes and became the Trainer for us this school year. Poklad never asked for anything in return and was always ready to help out the club. He was crucial to keeping the members of the club safe and healthy, he drove to every away game and became apart of the fabric of GRFC Rugby. When our teammate Riley Ford got injured he made sure to stick by his side and helped out with medical forms at the hospital. When either our member or opposing team player got hurt he was always the first one there and ready to help.

It will be tough to see him leave but we wish Poklad all the best with his future endeavors.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, Seaford welcomed to its senior assembly the athlete, filmmaker and mental health speaker Brydon Duncan.

Brydon works with schools, universities and organisations to open up honest conversations about mental health, resilience and speaking up when things are difficult.

Behind his achievements, Brydon has faced significant personal challenges, including navigating mental health difficulties, neurodiversity, and the pressures that can come with success and expectation.

What is particularly powerful about his story is that some of his hardest moments came not when things were going wrong, but when everything on the outside appeared to be going well – reminding us that we never fully know what someone else might be experiencing.

Through his work, Brydon’s aim is simple: to challenge stigma, to encourage honest conversations, and to help people feel less alone.

A big thank you to Brydon for inspiring our students.

Last night, I had the honour of attending the premiere of Breaking the Circle — a deeply personal and powerful film by the incredibly talented @brydonduncan
At many a moments I was left breathless…

Still so young, and yet Brydon has lived through moments that would shake most. His courage to share them so openly, through film, was nothing short of inspiring. One line from him has stayed with me: “Human connection is the only wealth.” Simple. Profound. True.

The film is raw, moving, and at times difficult to watch — not because of its flaws, but because it holds up a mirror to struggles many experience but few speak about: mental health, bullying, autism, loneliness… and above all, the human need to be seen, heard, and cared for.

Fully funded and edited and produced himself, shows the tenacity and strength he has to get his message across.

Brydon’s storytelling brings light to these often-hidden battles, reminding us that kindness, understanding, and genuine connection are more than just words — they’re lifelines.
Loneliness is a huge problem amongst our youth and day by day the this is becoming a greater concern…

This movie 🎥’Break the Circle’ has the potential and power to truly change and break hidden silences, and open up vital conversations!

Brydon has only begun his incredible journey and I can’t wait to see him create waves of change not only here but globally.
