Shocked and thrilled to say: I’m in today’s Sunday @nytimes! Every so often, I get caught up in the lonely parts of being single. But mostly? Mostly I feel so damn grateful for the life I have. For my home, and my career, and my WONDERFUL friends—quite a few of whom joined me on the 40th birthday trip the NYT interviewed me about ❤️ We’ve been trained to celebrate specific milestones (patriarchal ones), and deprioritize others. To be made to feel that marriage and children are the pinnacle. But what if one way isn’t the only way? To get to celebrate a new decade and be reminded that despite being what our VP refers to as a childless cat lady, my life is FULL—of love, of joy, of travel, of magic—was incredibly special. This piece isn’t how I dreamed I’d make it into the times (I wanted to write a best-selling novel!), but it’s still pretty damn cool.

I will remember this trip (and this dinner @lardomexico, which was full of laughter and love and deeeeelish comida!) forever 🤍
