I used to think diving was about going deeper.

Now I think it is about COMING BACK.

Back to the breath.
Back to the body.
Back to the present.
And sometimes, back to a part of ourselves that became quiet a long time ago.

In Transactional Analysis, we call it the Free Child, the spontaneous, curious, playful part of us that experiences life directly.

As we grow, that Child can become restricted.

We learn to perform.
To achieve.
To control.
To become who we think we need to be.

The Child doesn’t disappear.
It simply becomes less accessible.

And this is what fascinates me about diving.

Underwater, many of the identities we carry on land lose their importance.

Nobody underwater cares about your title.
The fish don’t know your salary.
Your inbox cannot follow you down.

There is very little to prove.

Only:

Breathe. Notice. Adjust. Be here.

Diving requires awareness, boundaries, and respect. And within those boundaries, something becomes possible:

Adult provides the awareness.
Free Child provides the aliveness.

That combination matters.

Because freedom isn’t the absence of boundaries. Sometimes, good boundaries are exactly what allow us to feel free.

And maybe that’s the blind spot about diving:

We call it an escape, when perhaps it is the opposite.

Underwater, your breath keeps calling you back to now.

Maybe inner peace isn’t something we find 40 meters below the surface.

Maybe the water simply becomes quiet enough for us to hear what was already there.

Eventually, the diver returns to the surface.

The deeper question is: who comes back?

Sustainability starts at the source, and the SEA is vital to the continuity of LIFE 🌊💙
The heatwaves we’re experiencing today are a reminder that our actions have consequences. Yet there is still time to change course.
JOIN US this Saturday, August 8, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ramlet El Bayda, Beirut, for a Beach Cleanup, one of Lebanon’s largest synchronized marine conservation initiatives. 🌊💙
Together with our partners, NGOs, sponsors, diving centers, and hundreds of volunteers, we’ll be creating a nationwide Wave of Change through simultaneous beach and underwater cleanups from South to North.
Every hand, every dive, and every act of kindness brings us one step closer to cleaner seas and a more sustainable future.
Be the WAVE Of CHANGE.
Because Protecting our Marine Ecosystems Starts with ALL of us.

Invisible beneath the waves, ghost nets continue to threaten marine life and coastal ecosystems.
Learn how the project "From Ghost Nets to Thriving Waters: Coastal Action for Lebanon", funded by the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), is taking action to address this growing challenge.

Ghost nets can remain in the sea for decades.
• Trap and kill marine life.
• Damage important habitats.
• Reduce biodiversity.
• Add to marine plastic pollution.

🤝 Taking action for healthier seas
Through collaboration with diving centers, divers worked to remove ghost nets from Lebanon's coastal waters

🎣 A collective effort for cleaner seas
Ghost net removal does not end underwater.
• Fishers play an essential role in recovering nets from the sea.
• Collaboration between divers and fishers increases the success of removal efforts.
• Every net recovered helps protect marine life and coastal habitats.

Together, we can reduce marine litter and create healthier waters for future generations.
