POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The next participant in our The (Un)Seen Self photo series is @summer.lytle. Often, and especially on the highest stages, athletes’ bodies, performances, and stories are told by, and observed by, others. The (Un)Seen Self invites athletes to interrupt that pattern by sharing how they see themselves through a self-portrait that represents something about their experiences in sport. Swipe to read Summer’s caption about the self-portrait. #selfportrait #seen

Listening is such an important part of making people feel safe and seen as @summer.lytle reminds us! #allyship requires us not to assume what will be helpful or needed from others, but to truly listen and understand those needs based on what someone is telling us. #listen

How we approach someone can be the difference between making them feel seen and loved VS called out or cornered. @miranda.freedman reminds us that approaching someone gently is an important component of creating inclusive spaces! #allyship #relationships

En Garde.

Miranda Wynne Freedman has spent her entire collegiate career in a fighting stance — not against opponents, but against every system that told athletes they had to leave part of themselves at the door to compete.

Tonight, she puts the guard down.

A medically retired Division I fencer, Team Captain, founder of EmpowHER, President of @buckeyespectrum, Athlete Ally 2025 Chapter of the Year recipient, Big Ten LGBTQ+ Equality Symposium presenter, U.S. Surgeon General mental health meeting participant, incoming Clinical Psychology doctoral student, and one of the most quietly powerful advocates in collegiate athletics today — Miranda joins us at Play for Joy to speak to what it means to be both things at once. The athlete and the human. The competitor and the whole person. En garde and finally, fully, at rest.

This is for every student-athlete who has ever been asked to choose.

Tonight, we choose everything. Play for Joy — A community-centered space at the intersections of sport, identity, and creativity.

Liberation. Healing. Belonging.🖤

Tonight. Doors open. Come as you are.

As a transgender man, military veteran, athlete, coach, founder, and community organizer, Giovonni Jordan Santiago has spent his life showing up in spaces that weren’t built for him.

We are honored to welcome Giovonni Jordan Santiago as a featured speaker at Play for Joy — a community-centered exploration of sport, identity, creativity, and the ways they can open pathways toward healing, liberation, and belonging.

The kid who was counted out before getting a chance. The athlete who suited up anyway. The founder who built what didn’t exist when his community needed it. The veteran who returned home and turned personal experience into lasting change for others.

His journey reminds us that showing up—again and again, with courage, purpose, and joy—is its own kind of championship 🏀🏳️‍⚧️

Sport has never been just a game.

It has been survival. Resistance. Healing. Community. Identity. Joy.

The Scatter Joy Project & Good Trouble Collective are coming together to honor that truth — and to build something new from it.

We’re creating an intentional, community-centered space at the intersections of sport, identity, and creativity. Conceptualized for athletes, students, coaches, creatives, and anyone ready to reimagine what sport can be outside of systems rooted solely in performance and productivity.

For those who have ever felt like they had to shrink to compete.

For those who found themselves — or lost themselves — through sport.

For those who know that joy is not separate from justice — it’s essential to it.

Access to and through sport. Radical self-love. Collective care.

We can’t wait to get in good trouble, necessary trouble, with you 🖤

The Pursuit [Good] Intentions program provided custom gala outfits for the team and we sat down with Co-President @jvcobharmon to hear about how he’s leveraged his career in gymnastics to find his people and help other student athletes find inclusion. #GoBucks

Love this from @miranda.freedman. Allyship sometimes can be the little things, from simple acts of visibility and representation that go a long way to demonstrating that a space is inclusive for the queer community.
