🎣💙 CAST FOR A YARN — PROUDLY SUPPORTING TWO IMPORTANT CAUSES 💙🎣

I’m incredibly proud to announce that Cast for a Yarn will be supporting Beyond Blue and the Kahi Simon Fund as we continue to grow our mission around fishing, connection, mental health and suicide prevention.

💙 Beyond Blue continues to provide vital mental health support to people and families across Australia.

🖤💛❤️ The Kahi Simon Fund holds a special connection to our local community, honouring Kahi Simon, a young Worimi warrior, and supporting the important work being done in his name around suicide prevention and awareness.

For Cast for a Yarn 2027, a portion of funds raised through the competition will support both causes.

This is bigger than fishing. 🎣
With 50 sponsors already on board donating prizes for 2027, the support from the fishing community continues to blow me away.

It’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable having a yarn, checking in on their mates and knowing they don’t have to face the tough times alone.

I’m proud to use Cast for a Yarn to support a national organisation while also giving back to an important cause here in our own community.

🎣 Cast a line. Have a yarn. Support each other. 💙

🎣 CAST FOR A YARN 2027 — WE’RE COMING BACK BIGGER! 🎣

After an unreal 2026, I’m proud to announce Cast for a Yarn will return in 2027! 💙

This year, 103 anglers got behind the comp, 68 fish were entered and together we raised $1,040 for Beyond Blue.

The support from our anglers, sponsors, families and the wider fishing community was unreal — and in 2027, we’re taking it to another level. 🔥

A massive thank you to everyone who backed my vision this year. This is only the beginning.
2027… LET’S GO! 🎣🔥

🎣 CAST FOR A YARN 2026

What an incredible way to wrap up Cast for a Yarn 2026.

I want to say a massive thank you to every single person who entered, donated, sponsored, shared the event or simply got behind my vision.

The support from the fishing community has honestly been humbling. Hearing the stories about how Cast for a Yarn has helped people get out fishing, connect with others and have conversations they may not normally have is exactly why I created this.

💙 103 anglers entered
💙 68 fish submitted
💙 $1,040 raised for Beyond Blue

I’m beyond proud to have created a safe and welcoming space where people can participate, get outdoors, connect through fishing and, most importantly, have a yarn.

A massive thank you to Club Old Bar for hosting our presentation and supporting what Cast for a Yarn is all about.

👏 Congratulations to every winner and every angler who had a crack.

But Cast for a Yarn was never just about catching the biggest fish or winning a prize.
It was about creating a reason to get outside, cast a line, check in on your mates and have a yarn.

To our sponsors and everyone who donated prizes — none of this would have been possible without you. Thank you for believing in what I’m trying to build.

From 103 anglers, 68 fish and $1,040 raised for Beyond Blue, this is only the beginning.

Cast a line. Have a yarn. Support each other.

Growing up I spent many evenings watching my father fish this exact spot, I’d be sitting on the rocks searching for cowrie shells whilst he was out chasing these fish. Over the past 15 years ive given it a fair crack, in that time I’ve donated more lures than most to the cungie covered beds here, I’ve hooked many fish here over those years only to pull hooks or get busted off from the numerous boulders surrounding this hole, after roughly 15 years ive managed to pull it off, landing this beast all whilst my father was watching from the rocks where I grew up watching him, a moment i will never forget. The @buckshot_rods paired with the @phdlures golden mullet made this fight a dream. -136cm- -23.5kg-

Tank of a Mulloway that absolutely gave me grief, not the biggest fish but one of the dirtiest and hardest fighting fish I’ve came across, from the get go, first run was ridiculous! Called it for a shark firstly the way it took off, until I felt the distinctive headshakes, somehow bricked me 3 times on something out deep, free spooled it everytime and thankfully swam out and came off!
Such a epic fight and fish I’ll always remember👊
