New in @nationmag from @budpuertorico president Alberto Medina (@free.puerto.rico):

"Something is changing in the political conversation about Puerto Rico. In recent months, major leaders and organizations on the American left have explicitly signaled their support for the island's independence. ... Only by advocating for freedom can Puerto Ricans and Americans, together, end a colonial relationship that has lasted for more than a century."

🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

Such powerful words from a song from the early to mid 90s by Puertorican DJ and MC @djnegro_thenoise @bebethenoise basically don’t allow yourself to be so easily manipulated and wake up and see what’s going on!

My crew sis @tiffypaints and I went to Brattleboro,VT to participate in @suckapunchgraffjam annual Hip-Hop Jam. For me I knew one thing to be clear was that we were going to not only represent for our crews @bronx.team and @hotcruinc but we were gonna fly our Borikén Flag high to raise awareness around the current water crisis and injustices happening in the island.

While you enjoy these pics of some of the details we put in our production do know that PUERTORICO belongs to the people. The Beaches Belong to the People and Water is a basic human necessity!

All my Boricuas and supporters drop a flag in the comment! 🇵🇷✊🏽🇵🇷

Peace!

🚨 OUR COASTLINE IS NOT FOR SALE 🚨

Here we go again with an $8 million real estate listing by ARK Real Estate is currently marketing Solares 20, 21 and 22… 51.46 cuerdas 50 acres of coastal wetland in Barrio Aguirre, Salinas Km 12.2 on Carr 703 for mega resorts, hotels and residential developments. Look at the images… this area consists of vital mangroves, salt flats and coastal wetlands that protect our communities from storm surges and coastal flooding.

According to the 2015 Plan de Uso de Terrenos de Puerto Rico PUTPR, land classified as SREP “Suelo Rústico Especialmente Protegido” is strictly defined as… land that is NOT designated for urban or developable use and which due to its specific location, topography, aesthetic, archaeological, or ecological value... and risks to safety flooding or storm surge or public health is identified as land that must NEVER be considered URBAN LAND.

Yet right in front of our eyes, politicians and developers are attempting to bypass the law, push site consultations through OGPe and pave over the natural barriers that protect Salinas from catastrophic flooding and hurricanes! They are destroying our natural protection and risking local lives just so wealthy investors can profit off eco hospitality.

Our protected lands, coastlines are not a playground for developers. Our mangroves are coastal defense systems should not be privatized or converted into luxury real estate.

WE WILL NOT STAND BY AND LET THEM DESTROY OUR ISLAND! 📢 SHARE THIS EVERYWHERE. EXPOSE THE GREED. PROTECT SALINAS. 📢 @ark.realestatepr

🥊🇵🇷 THE NIGHT THAT STILL HAS BOXING FANS ARGUING 27 YEARS LATER…

September 18, 1999.

Félix “Tito” Trinidad 🇵🇷 vs. Oscar De La Hoya 🇲🇽🇺🇸.

Two undefeated champions. Two superstars. WBC & IBF welterweight titles on the line.

Oscar controlled much of the early fight with his jab, combinations and movement. But believing he had already built a big enough lead, he became extremely defensive down the stretch while Tito kept coming forward, applying pressure and finishing the fight as the aggressor. (ESPN)

When the scorecards were announced:

🥊 115-113 Trinidad
🥊 115-114 Trinidad
🥊 114-114

Félix Trinidad by majority decision. 🇵🇷🏆 (ESPN)

And the argument has NEVER stopped.

Some fans say Oscar clearly outboxed Tito and deserved the decision.

Others say you can’t take your foot off the gas in a fight that close, give away the championship rounds and expect the judges to hand you the victory.

My opinion? Oscar had tremendous success and arguably did the cleaner boxing for much of the fight. But he made a HUGE tactical mistake by believing the fight was already won. Tito kept pressing, closed strong, and the official decision was close enough that I don’t consider it some outrageous robbery.

But that’s what makes this fight legendary.

🇵🇷 WHO DID YOU HAVE WINNING?

🥊 TITO TRINIDAD 🇵🇷
🥊 OSCAR DE LA HOYA 🇲🇽🇺🇸

Drop your scorecard in the comments. 👇🏽🔥
