Here’s where to eat + things to do when exploring @visitjoco , just outside of Raleigh, NC. | a d

EAT:
• @aaktunnc_clayton is always a must-visit for us when in Clayton! Their entire menu + drink selection is as impressive as their entire aesthetic. ✨
• @thegrindcoffeeandcreamery is a great breakfast place! You can try their seasonal lattes, get a breakfast sandwich, gluten free pastries by @jpspastry , AND even ice cream 🍦
• @asian.eatery is a new-to-us restaurant + we already can’t wait to go back! Their pho + boba was the ultimate combo 🍜🧋 bringing Vietnamese + Asian cuisine to JoCo with reimagined dishes + classics too 🙌

DO:
• @smithsnursery is a precious garden center, marketplace, nursery, + so much more! You can take a hay ride, visit their pumpkin patch, say hi to all of the animals, and even try fresh-made ice cream. 🍨 if you’re looking for a true Fall experience, this should be your first stop! 🎃
• @bucketofblossoms is an adorable flower-lovers destination. You can shop mums + seasonal bouquets at their farm stand 💐 and during their open season, you can get a bucket and fill it with your own bouquet arrangement!
• @hinnantfamilyvineyards blew us away with their massive + stunning property, tour where we learned all about their wine process + how they do what they do, by finishing our visit with a full tasting. 🍷 they offer charcuterie boards too (with gluten free options), and it’s easily a place you could spend all afternoon.

💌 Send this to someone who would love a great Fall trip, just 20-30 minutes from Raleigh!

This weekend at El Cabo Verde, Chef Lalo is bringing a little more Oaxaca to the table!

Tender braised short rib with traditional mole segueza, served over creamy mashed potatoes. Rich, savory, and full of the bold flavors we love.

It’s a dish worth documenting. Even Chef Oscar Diaz couldn’t resist snapping a photo before digging in!

Available this weekend only!

A big congratulations to our very own Chef Lalo! 👏

Last night, Chef Lalo represented El Cabo Verde at Shreveport’s Prize Fest Come and Get It Dinner and earned his spot in the battle for the coveted Golden Fork!

For the evening, Chef Lalo prepared a Tamal de Mole Oaxaqueño, featuring Nourishing Farms chicken, mole coloradito, heirloom tomatoes, blue mesa, and chicken chicharrón. A beautiful representation of the Mexican flavors and culinary traditions he brings to our kitchen every day.

Chef Lalo is pictured alongside Chef Oscar Diaz of Little Bull in Durham, North Carolina—a two-time James Beard Award semifinalist, 2026 Top Chef contestant, and chef behind the MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant.

We’re incredibly proud of Chef Lalo and want to congratulate all the talented chefs who competed! What a wonderful evening celebrating culinary creativity and the incredible food community here in Shreveport.

Help us wish Chef Lalo luck as he competes for the Golden Fork this Saturday night!

Top Chef gang gang, left to our own devices at the Cook Out drive-through 😂 After an amazing event in Charlotte, we ordered enough food to feed the whole crew for $52. FIFTY-TWO DOLLARS. And it actually hit! Late-night chaos with the homies 🍔🍟

I may have shotgunned a beer for the first time and I pretended to drink it but I really just let it spill on the ground and no, I’m not sorry. Won’t be doing that again. Can’t be me ✌🏿e

Got to cook alongside the Top Chef gang in Charlotte for cookiesforkids, and this one hit different.

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer started when Gretchen Witt’s 2-year-old son Liam was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She baked 96,000 cookies, raised over $400,000, and turned it into a movement funding better, less toxic treatments for kids fighting cancer, the number one disease killer of children in the US.

As a dad, I don’t take nights like this lightly. Grateful to everyone who showed up and gave.

If this moves you the way it moved me, their bio is where to start.

🍪 Cookies can change lives.

Earlier this week, I had the honor of attending @cookies4kids annual event, Cookies, Cocktails & Canapés, and watched as hundreds came together to raise $536,000 for pediatric cancer research.

The event also brought Top Chefs and local culinary talent together for the cause.

WOW. It was all so inspiring and I can’t wait for next year’s event!

Thank you for having me @cookies4kids!

What a delicious night for an incredible cause! ❤️
An evening filled with one-of-a-kind dishes, creative cocktails, sweet treats, and an exhilarating auction featuring an incredible lineup of locally and nationally recognized chefs — all coming together to raise funds for new, improved, and less-toxic treatments for children fighting cancer. Great food. Great drinks. Even greater impact.
