In September, we gathered to celebrate the next generation of Detroit’s creative voices.

The Young Creatives Exhibition brought together emerging artists and community through a shared commitment to creative expression, cultural exchange, and the future of Detroit’s arts landscape.

Presented in partnership with the @diadetroit’ Inside|Out, @bulk_space, and the @bgcgreaterdetroit, the exhibition created a space to recognize young talent and the perspectives shaping what comes next.

Curated by @9hopes, Young Creatives reflected the importance of investing in emerging artists and creating opportunities for their work to be seen, experienced, and celebrated.

A look back at an evening dedicated to the future of Detroit’s creative community.

Busy lately? I feel you babe. And still, I hope you’ll make time for 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄, a weekend-long gathering around print — its methods, its practices, its manifold lives, afterlives, and half-lives. Focusing on publishers and printshops with liberatory work models; print projects led by queer, trans, BIPOC artists; both local standbys and traveling acts — 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 offers talks, panels, & a workshop, and closes with a fair featuring collectively operated print projects and presses.

𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄: 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 is October 9 (5–8:30PM) & October 10 (12–6PM)
𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 is October 11 (12–6PM)

RSVP in @manyfortunes bio! Something for most, I think. Ask me what I think you’d like!

A pleasure to organize this program for FORTUNE — taking place at Icebox Mall, a concept a feeling and a real place opening tomorrow @iceboxprojectspace with 9 exhibitions — on the occasion of @collectivefutures.info , a six-week “”festival”” organized collaboratively, featuring 40+ collective projects of varied scales. What a feat to work on this over 3 yrs — figure out funding and sharing, get people to come to a meeting, plan multiple openings, and collect these under an umbrella of common time — less a festival more a slime mold of DIY programming, I think. Come see before another 10 years goes by.

𝐍𝐨𝐚𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐤 𝐒𝐨𝐧 (@bloomcascade) is a theorist of material culture, science-fiction writer, and cultural worker based in Brussels. Trained in design, they now develop speculative narratives and theoretical frameworks concerned with technics, ecology, gender, political economy, and the conditions of cultural production. Their work develops across multiple mediations—including essays, speculative fiction, diagrams, lectures, web-based narrative systems, and organizational forms—according to the material conditions of each inquiry. They publish the Archive of Patchy Studies as an experiment in how creative labor—namely artmaking and writing—can sustain its value without institutional mediation. As a cultural worker, they co-organize the Queer Collective Workers’ Union in response to the enclosure of queer commons within and around cultural collectives.

After a jam packed couple of months putting on Mutual Assembly, we're back to regularly scheduled programming at BULK Space with our October meeting!

If this is your first meeting (hey new followers!), all you have to do is show up. No prior knowledge, participation or otherwise are required to join CCDET.

We're going to hear from Mutual Assembly participants about their experiences in the show, brainstorm on our 1 year event as a group and have a work sesh on publications for the Detroit Art Book Fair.

If you have coded compositions you're interested in turning into a publication for the fair, bring them with you! And if you can't make it but would like to contribute, send us a DM!

See you there!
