(re)imagining worlds beyond patriarchy Berlin workshop - 15th November - link in bio Many of the conditions for worlds beyond patriarchy are already here: in lineages of matriarchal care carried through us, glimpses of utopian ways of living, and in the resistance led by intersectional feminists and allies. How can we actively grieve and compost patriarchy to make space for what is emerging? What are the characteristics of patriarchy that continue to persist in our lives? How can we collectively (re)imagine worlds beyond patriarchy? In this workshop, we’ll flow through embodied practice, dreaming, grieving, composting, and collective (re)imagination. Drawing on personal and collective lived experience, we’ll sense into the characteristics of patriarchy that persist in our lives and relationships, as well as the patterns of the worlds we dream of. We will then share what has emerged and nurture seeds of commitment to move from imagination to lived reality. This workshop is open to anyone with any relationship to gender, including those for whom gender feels distant, fluid, or irrelevant. It may suit people who already sense how patriarchy lives in all of us, differently, shaped by gender alongside structural, historical, social and bodily systems and lived experiences. Date: 15th of November Time: 15:00 - 18:00 Location: bUm - Paul-Lincke-Ufer 21, 10999 Berlin If there are any needs, capacities, questions or possibilities you would like to share with us before the workshop, that might help you feel more comfortable and enable you to be present more fully, please reach out to us via email: contact@beyondpatriarchy.org Vegan snacks, drinks and mugwort tea will be provided. Free workshop, with donations welcome. Grateful for the support from Collective Imagination Practice 💜

EN: Who spottet us? Our posters were all over Berlin, from Yorkstraße to Markgrafendamm to Wulheide. Right in the heart of Berlin and at the center of the debate about our city’s future. Because vacant spaces are not a natural state of affairs. Berlin needs spaces that are put to use: for culture, for bringing people together, and for community. Life instead of vacant spaces! #lebenstattleerstand #berlinfüralle #wählengegenleerstand

BEHIND THE BOOK — PART 2 🖤 You can publish independently. But can you compete independently? Yesterday, I shared my experience of trying to enter the traditional publishing world. Today, I want to talk about what happens when you decide to do it yourself. Self-publishing gives you something extraordinary: creative freedom. Nobody needs to give you permission to publish. But that freedom comes with a rather substantial price: you become your own publishing team. Marketing. Sales. Distribution. Social media. Newsletters. Bookstore outreach. Press relations. Events. Community building. All of it. What has surprised me most, though, isn't the workload. It's how many doors remain closed even after the book exists. I've approached bookstores that explicitly support women writers, only to discover that they don't consider self-published books. Some reviewers and book influencers have similarly explained that they only work with traditionally published authors. I respect their right to choose what they read and promote. Their time is valuable, and they have their own professional priorities. But it raises an interesting question: If independent artists can now create and distribute their work without institutions, why does visibility still depend so heavily on institutional recognition? Looking at the resources behind major publishing campaigns - publicity teams, advertising budgets, influencer partnerships, beautifully produced promotional packages - the difference is striking. An independent author isn't simply competing with other books. They're competing with entire marketing infrastructures. And yet, I don't regret choosing this path. Because something rather wonderful is happening alongside the difficulties. People are reading. Recommending the novel. Offering spaces for events. Introducing me to others. Helping The Happiness Engine find its audience. One connection at a time. So I'm learning something about independence and interdependence. Not doing everything alone, but gradually building a community of people who believe the work deserves to exist. Thank you to everyone who is supporting me on this journey🙏🏻 #TheHappinessEngine

Almost 100 copies of The Happiness Engine sold in 4 weeks 🖤 Four weeks ago, my first novel entered the world. And now, almost 100 people have decided to buy a copy of a book written by an author they had never heard of before. I find that quite extraordinary. Because I know how precious our time is. There are thousands of wonderful books waiting to be read, and choosing to spend several hours with a story written by someone new is an act of curiosity and trust that I don't take for granted. But what has moved me most over these past weeks goes far beyond the number of books sold. It's the kindness. People recommending the novel to their friends. Sharing my posts. Helping me connect with new communities. Offering spaces for readings. Signing up for events and bringing others along. Sending me messages of encouragement, sometimes completely unexpectedly. All these little gestures are helping the book find a life of its own. And that means more to me than I can easily explain. Publishing independently isn't always an easy road. There are closed doors, unanswered messages, moments of doubt and the occasional rejection that stings a little more than expected. After all, this book is something I created, something deeply personal that I spent a long time bringing into existence. So yes, I feel vulnerable putting it out there. But I also feel incredibly proud. Proud that I followed through on something I believed in, without knowing whether anyone would care. And increasingly grateful to discover that you don't always have to carry something you create into the world entirely on your own. Sometimes other people pick it up and help it travel a little further. That's what I'm experiencing right now, and it is a rather wonderful feeling. So thank you. For reading, recommending, encouraging, showing up, and giving The Happiness Engine a chance. Yesterday I invited you to a reading. This one is something completely different 🖤 On Monday, 26 October, I’m bringing The Happiness Engine to @bum.berlin but I won’t be spending the evening sitting in front of you reading from my book. Instead, we’re turning some of its questions into an experiment. Welcome to: THE HAPPINESS LAB An interactive conversation inspired by The Happiness Engine. Imagine technology could reliably tell you which choices would make you happier. Would you trust it? What if you could remove one painful memory and measurably improve your wellbeing, would you? If you knew a relationship, career or lifestyle was statistically unlikely to make you happy, would that change what you chose? And perhaps the question I’m most interested in: What is one thing about yourself you would refuse to optimize, even if changing it produced a “better” outcome? These are the kinds of dilemmas we’ll put into the room, but not only. You’ll choose. Take positions. Hear what other people choose. Change your mind, or defend it. And together we'll explore where happiness, technology, ambition, freedom and human agency begin colliding. You do not need to have read The Happiness Engine. The novel is our starting point, not homework. And I’m especially excited to do this at @bum.berlin because this format only becomes interesting when different people bring different experiences, values and ideas into the same room. No correct answers. No lecture on how to live. And definitely no promise that you'll leave happier 😈 Just a room full of people trying to answer some surprisingly difficult questions. 🧪 THE HAPPINESS LAB 🗓 Monday, 26 October ⏰ 18:00–20:00 📍 @bum.berlin · Paul-Lincke-Ufer 21, Berlin 🎟 Free. Registration is required. 👉 Register through: https://shorturl.at/qSn9M Come curious. I genuinely have no idea what this room is going to hold space to. And that's precisely why I'm looking forward to it 🖤 Poster created using AI technology.

📢 THE HAPPINESS ENGINE: LIVE IN BERLIN The book is out. Now I want to get out from behind the screen and actually talk about it with you 🖤 Over the next few months, The Happiness Engine is travelling through very different Berlin spaces, from cafés and literary venues to coworking communities, a sex-positive festival and an interactive workshop. And that’s intentional. I don’t want to repeat the same reading 5X. Different rooms attract different people. Different people ask different questions. And every conversation reveals another side of the book. So, where would you like to join me? 🔞 21 OCT · EURIX @iksk.berlin · 20:00–22:00 We will explore desire, intimacy, identity, freedom and the lives we perform. ☕ 24 OCT · @zwischenraumberlin · 14:00–16:00 An intimate Saturday reading and conversation about ambition, relationships, happiness and finding your way back to your own values. 🧪 26 OCT · @bum.berlin · 18:00–20:00 The Happiness Lab: not a reading, but an interactive experiment. Would you trust technology to make you happier? What would you refuse to optimize? 📚 5 NOV · @metis.books.berlin · 18:00–20:00 A literary conversation around the novel, its characters and the questions underneath the story. 💡 20 NOV · @thisisdenizen · 18:00–20:00 Technology, ambition, work, self-optimization and what happens when our pursuit of success begins shaping who we become. And in February, The Happiness Engine continues at @lettretage You can come having read the book or knowing absolutely nothing about it. 📖 Books will also be available to buy and sign. 🚨 IMPORTANT: REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Please go to: 👉 www.the-happiness-engine.com/events Choose the event (or events!) you’d like to attend and register through the link on the event page. It helps me and the venues enormously to know how many people are actually coming. Don’t just like the post and think “that sounds interesting.” 😄 Pick a room. Register. Come talk to me. I’m really looking forward to meeting you on the other side of the book 🖤 Photo by: @elad_itzkin_photography #TheHappinessEngine
