We need your help.

Our food cycle is broken, and our landfills are reaching capacity.

For the past 5 years, here in Virginia Beach, Drishti has been leading the charge towards soil health, organic growing practices, and closing the loop in our broken system. Sadly, our current land lease has expired and we need to find a new home. We can and will do the groundwork, but your support is what will keep us moving in the right direction.

Here’s what you can do:
1 Make a monetary donation that could cover labor, equipment, and operating expenses
2 Connect us to a retiring farmer looking to convey their land, or someone with a large farm with underutilized acreage
3 Donate land or provide a long-term lease
4 Spread the word so we can connect to more schools, garden clubs, and farming community groups

With your support, we can cultivate a cultural movement that nourishes our bodies, restores the health of our planet, and brings hope to our communities and future generations.

Drishti is looking for an Executive Director to join our team!
•Do you have nonprofit experience and about 10-15 hours a week to help a passionate group make a big difference? Here at Drishti Compost, we want to change how people think about food waste, and help more people see its connections to gardening, climate action, and caring for our community and our Earth. We are looking for someone who can help guide our work, organize our projects, build partnerships, and help turn ideas into action. You might be a great fit if you've helped lead a nonprofit or even just enjoy bringing people together and keeping things on track. We have grown tremendously over the last few years and could really use your helping hands. Please reach out to us to talk more 🌼 please note, this is a volunteer based position!

This past Thursday was cool. It was cool for so many reasons.

But it wasn’t just cool because we got work alongside @LCDfoodie on an event like we used to do instead of some of some of the bigger things we’ve worked on together.

It wasn’t just cool because we had some of the best farmers, watermen, chefs and hospitality professionals that VB has to offer all in one room.

It wasn’t just cool that the food was off the charts, the music was great and the beverage pairings were perfection.

It wasn’t just cool that the crowd who came to gather and eat and mingle all had a good time and enjoyed being part of something bigger.

It was also cool because this shift in the Virginia Beach culinary scene that we’ve been a part of forever a decade is finally starting to get some recognition. Everyone who took part in this remarkable event has been working so hard over so many years to change the definition of food and hospitality in the Virginia Beach area, and to have an organization like the James Beard organization recognize our city as a place for culinary and hospitality excellence is a direct result of all of the hard work of so many. It’s truly something remarkable to be a part of.

Thank you to the farmers, thank you to the watermen, thank you to the chefs and thank you to the extraordinary staff @Yorkies. Thank you to the City Of Virginia Beach for embracing the new normal for Virginia Beach cuisine and hospitality. We’re just getting started.

A Seat At The Table 09/03/2026
A table where the farmer and the chef are just as important as the diner.
We were paired with Chef April Burke, who used ingredients from out teaching gardens in her dish (delicious, by the way!)
Beatriz got to speak about what we do and the importance of expanding our love for food to encompass more than just eating; we must care about the growing and composting process. They matter just as much.
Thank you @lcdfoodie for putting together such a beautiful event to highlight our local produce and talented chefs. @yorkiesvb @thecropfoundation

Bringing life to their final novel of the year, Finally Seen, the 5th graders designed their own dumplings with @bumble_beatriz. 🥟😋

Choosing fillings from veggies to pork, sauces from chili oil to yogurt curry, and shapes from traditional to monster dumplings, the 5th graders showed their character, personality, and thirst for new experiences. 🫑🍖

Shoutout to @bumble_beatriz aligning her expertise to the needs and wants of the explorers, and shoutout to community partner Jeffrey Lin for bringing real-life memories of making dumplings at home with his mother to the explorers! 🥢💜
