swipe to see the real sunflower it’s based on - the two years after I planted it, it kept coming back on its own, stronger and taller than the year before 😅🌻

I have been planning a lil quilt in my head for Maddie’s first baby for YEARS!! Jonah I love you more than you’ll ever know and I haven’t even met you yet. You’re going to be so spoiled by your Auntie Anna. Please try not to throw up on your quilt too much :)

The quilt top is the #leilaniquilt pattern by @wifemade . It’s pieced from a mixture of cotton seersucker and linens, some of which are offcuts from fabric Maddie, Emma, and I purchased during the very first days of Rabbit’s Foot. The back of the quilt is a combo of Goodnight Moon fabric from @cloud9fabrics and a bunny print for our newest little bunny Jonah 🥰

Thank you to all the people I met at markets this year, those of you who purchased wall quilts and ordered customs, my sweet friends for supporting me, dyeing fabric with me, manning my booth with me!! And most of all to those of you who have followed RF from the beginning and have encouraged me on this latest quilt-y iteration of my work, your words of support mean more than you know <3

EDIT: RAFFLE CLOSED
WIN THIS HANDMADE QUILT and support families in Chicago impacted by ICE! 100% of the entries for this raffle will go to the Street Vendors of Chicago (@streetvendorsofchicago). Shipping (if outside Chicago) will be covered by me.
Our neighbors are being kidnapped, beaten, and terrorized by ICE’s presence in Chicago. From SVAC: “Right now, our community is living in fear. The current political climate and ICE enforcement threats are silencing vendors, keeping many from working and leaving families without income. A single day without sales means no money for rent, food, medicine, or childcare. The emotional toll is just as heavy: parents and grandparents are afraid to leave their homes, and children carry the stress of uncertainty.”
HOW TO ENTER: Donate to SVAC via link in bio and DM me a screenshot of your donation - suggested entry starts at $15. Please give more if you are able!! I will not count extra donations as extra entries as I’d like everyone to have an equal opportunity to win, BUT I will add an extra entry if you tag a friend in the comments and an extra entry for sharing the post to your story 💖
ABOUT THE QUILT: The blue front is made up of a mixture of cottons, some new from fabric stores, some vintage, some cut from thrifted garments, some dyed with indigo. The center square is a cyanotype (sun print) made by me with a paper doily heart 🩵 The batting is 100% cotton, and the yellow back was original a white cotton sheet that I dyed naturally with turmeric! The quilt measures about 46”x46”.
This raffle will last for one week, ending on October 23rd at 12pm CST. I will randomly select a winner and post on my story - good luck!!! 🥰

Thank you so much to everyone who came to my booth at Renegade over the weekend!! It was my first in-person market in over a year and it went so much better than I expected. I LOVE to be a shut-in and sew in silence in my little living room corner every day, and it’s good to know I can chat with people for 14 hours without having a panic attack lol. I also feel so much more confident and validated in my decision to take my work in a more quilt-y direction!

It’s hard to pick my favorite part of the weekend so here are several:
- Talking shop with people who are just starting to dabble in quilting, and sewists who are much more experienced than me
- People buying a wall quilt to add to a themed area in their house - a tomato corner in their living room, a citrus kitchen, a bug-themed nursery (!!!)
- Hearing which quilts people were drawn to first; most popular was the giant tomato aka Big Tom, cheese, and the moon tarot card
- Seeing people again who have followed RF from the beginning
- Quilts like the moon tarot card and Saturn were sort of made with no intention to sell - both involved hand-dyeing fabric, sometimes 3 or 4 times, and much more time-intensive cutting and sewing than other quilts. I have always enjoyed the process more than the product in anything I make, so it was very cool to see people make a beeline to those quilts 😎

Anyway, I love making things for other people!! Can’t wait to make the custom quilts you all have reached out about next 🥲
