A brief look back at the ‘Senses of Plants’ exhibition at @villamerkel last year. Curated by @juliakatharinathiemann, the group show presented works by young contemporary artists who explore the diverse perception and intelligence of plants. Researchers from the fields of theory and neurobiology refer in their studies to the decision-making, memory and communication skills of plants. The artworks on display take up these findings and open up new aesthetic perspectives on the coexistence of humans and plants in a post-anthropocene world characterised by ecological and social change.

After we were able to design the exhibition ‚Mein Körper, ein Korallenriff? // My Body, A Coral Reef?‘, the bilingual catalog was also published this year. Our editorial design separates the two languages with different colors and layouts, making it easier to navigate through the catalog. The catalog features works by Arjan Brentjes, Imayna Caceres, Alicia Frankovich, Dominique Koch, Pei-Ying Lin, Theresa Schubert, Saša Spačal and Emma Wilson as well as texts by Lynn Margulis, Andreas Reckwitz, Saša Spačal, René Zechlin and Julia Katharina Thiemann.
The exhibition at @wilhelmhackmuseum was conceived and curated by @juliakatharinathiemann

After Democracy—I had the chance to speak to Elonora Herder (from @andpartnersincrime ) about "After Democracy," the immersive audio walk set in the ruins of representative democracy in the not-so-distant future.
.
We spoke about sound as space, the mask as resistance, and why applause can sometimes sound like rain.
A conversation about the role of theatre in times of democratic crisis—and why staging might be democracy’s most honest gesture.
.
You can find the full text in our first zine, self-published by @mananabold and designed by @bureau069
