Midtown is buzzing with new restaurants and this one needs to be on your radar 👀

Café by day, snack bar by night, this spot brings together the backgrounds of the chefs/partners in a menu that’s really having fun with food. Cocktails by @nickhao96 of @uh_bar bring a taste of west-end cool uptown.

Here’s what I tried:

🦪 Mussels Escabeche: Hands down one of the best cold mussel dishes I’ve had in the city.
🐟 Tuna Ssam Bop: Grown-up tuna tartare where you make your own little nori hand rolls.
🍉 Watermelon Salad: Sweet, refreshing and a nice contrast to the richer dishes.
🐙 Portuguese Octopus Skewers: That nước mắm and harissa sauce is worth asking for extra bread to soak up.
🐟 Seasonal BC Sablefish on special
🍔 Baba Burger: juicy, thick-cut with a great sweet-and-salty balance.
🥩 Steak Frites: Coffee-marinated striploin that might be my favourite reasonably priced steak frites in the city right now. Definitely upgrade to the Baba fries with garlic aioli, confit garlic oil, chives and pecorino.
🎃 Pumpkin Pie
🍮 Sticky Toffee Pudding: Their own take on one of my favourites with roasted chocolate caramel and Chantilly cream, but I'm a purist on this one.
🌈 "Dunkaroo" Donuts: Imagine fluffy homemade Timbits with vanilla cream dip and rainbow sprinkles. Childhood nostalgia in the best way.

🔥🍕 THE DIAVOLA @mercatto.to 🍕🔥

Okayyyy… THIS pizza was nice! The moment it hit the table, that gorgeous blistered crust had me ready to dig in. The crust was perfectly airy and chewy with those delicious charred edges that gave every bite a little smoky flavour.

The spicy salami! An Absolute YES! It brought that perfect kick without overpowering the sweet, rich tomato sauce. Add the creamy melted mozzarella and fresh basil, and every bite was basically a little party in my mouth.

The balance of spicy, savoury, cheesy, tangy and smoky was so good I would order it again.
