It's playoffs baby!

That means faster girls, faster feeds, and faster shots! How do you start preparing for those types of games...with faster warm ups!

This warmup is challenging but it's been helping our goalies prep for some of our toughest games this postseason. This drill pushes our girls to focus on quick saves, fast resets, and quick cross zone movement. We run highs, mids, lows, then everywhere for a comprehensive but kick you butt set.

We do it with 2 or 3 shooters depending on the day. We've also been working on inside shots this year so you can see our warm up line is REALLY close! We are only on the 5 yard line...something our goalies have been working towards and adjusting to all season long.

Bonus!!! When you can combine skills with conditioning! If you ask them, it is also a complete leg burner and if you listen close enough, you can hear how out of breath the goalies are while they are filming each other! 🤣

Congrats @callistaelicalax22 on signing your #NLI to play women’s lacrosse at @lynn_knights. From the first day you walked through the facility in 2020 your quiet confidence spoke volumes! Carry that same persona with you to the next level and show them what we already know!

#MindsetMonday! I'm a bit late today due to a family emergency but today I want to ask all the coaches this,

"How do you talk to your goalies during a timeout/halftime to make sure they stay focused and in the right mindset to go back in and succeed?"

Today I'm sharing my strategy. I do what I call, 2 positives and a focus. When my goalies come out I make THEM tell ME two things they are doing well and one thing they want to focus on when they go back in. I try and add a few positives as well or affirm theirs and if I think their focus point is off I may add a secondary focus.

I NEVER tell them what they are doing wrong. They ALREADY know. When our athletes are struggling, that is all they focus on. They often fail to see that they are doing a lot of things right. Have them focus on the good and add in one or two focuses. This will maintain a stable mindset and have them ready to go back in and make the changes necessary to do better.

We have to find ways to encourage them and also push them in tough situations. What we say, how we say it, and how we make them feel when we send them back in MATTERS!
