ATTUNEMENT & SOUND SESSIONS

Sound is the medium. Attunement is the practice.

How does music move you?

Through feeling. Emotion. Memory. Sensation. Rhythm. Resonance. Imagination. Connection.

Across eight weeks, we’ll gather with different musicians and sound makers to explore how sound meets the body, shifts our attention, and invites us into relationship with ourselves, our environment, and others.

Some sessions will be quiet and spacious. Others, more social and creative.

A space to listen, feel, move, and rest. Feel free to bring things to make your time as cozy as it can be, any current creative projects, or just yourself. We’ll have tea on from green muse herbs crafted for your rest and digest.

October 27 to December 15
Tuesday nights (6-9) at Burrow - 839 Fisgard
Victoria · on lək̓ʷəŋən territories

Arrive as you are.

ATTUNEMENT & SOUND SESSIONS AS COMMUNITY CARE.

A note from Sahmrai:

This sound + somatic collage is a collaborative community exploration that belongs as much to you as it does to me. This session series began as a practicum for my entry into my final year studying Somatics and the nervous system to become a Clinical Somatic Therapist. When asked to put forward what has moved me in this work the answer flowed out: combining attunement + music.

I hold it as a great privilege to facilitate and hold space for groups - encouraging the exploration & celebration of community and self. I am also beyond grateful to say that this series is already transforming; in collaboration with such a beautiful team including Tate Robinson, Bowen Macy, Jasmine Belief, and Somaya Said as well as 8+ artists (can’t wait to share more soon!), and hosted by community cornerstones, Colin and Anja of Burrow.

We would love for you to join us in this exploration of How Music Moves You - What becomes perceptible when we slow down enough to notice? What happens when we let sound meet us there?

Pricing is scaleable - At least one week is by donation, we’ve released a full season pass on Bloom (link in bio), and will have space for weekly drop-ins. Please reach out with any questions!

Thank u @s0mayuh for this beautiful poster!

I want to stay in touch with you all, and share my life, and not feel complacent to everything I think is disgusting in this world right now by using insta. I took 3 days off and have barely been on since (sorry I didn’t answer any dms!), and it is so nice to be more awkward irl, but I don’t want to lose touch. I just still want to share the good and real things about my life, to the good and real people!

Don’t tell me about MySpace…while I think it’s cool and plays on our nostalgia for a simpler time, I don’t personally think that’s enough. If anyone wants to build something with me, let’s figure this out.

A few short weeks ago, with a little help from our friends at @touristwinebar @softerdrink @workingculturerbead and @burrow.snd—as well as a much-appreciated blessing from the @cityofvictoria, we took to the street to celebrate the launch of Lyle. It was a beautiful summer Sunday, the perfect day for a wee block party.

A big 'ol speaker sat on the road, sandwiched between a hard-working yakitori station and a seemingly bottomless cooler of @nonny.beer and @zamalekmontreal to one side, and a juicy red collector VW bug (s/o @gursmcgrease!) with a frunk full of magazines to the other. There were kids, dogs, flowers, cake, and a smiling DJ looking out from inside the Softer Drink window. There were lots of friends, old and new.

Just to prove it wasn't all a dream, here's a little glimpse into how it looked—including a rare joint photo of Lyle's editors, overcome with emotion and gratitude.. (last slide 🏆)
