What an amazing 2026 @midamericaprint Conference at @lsu.art ! PRINTELLIGENCE, brought together an incredible exchange of ideas, process, and perspectives through panels, demonstrations, portfolios, and exhibitions including @jenniferrrrrroberts lecture, Print at a Distance, Dario Robleto’s screening of Ancient Beacons Long for Notice, and @missjenski Outstanding Printmaker Talk, Collaborating with Ghosts. Add appearances by big and small cats, Mike and Lithotine and Printmakers of Wrestling and this conference is unforgettable! To @lc_pie , @leslie.koptcho ,and all the conference organizers and staff, collaborating with you over the past two years has been one of the most impactful experiences of my professional life. You created more than a conference, you created a space that celebrates everything special about printmaking! To the MAPC Board, we started as colleagues, became friends, and are now family! I’m beyond grateful for your time, talent, and behind the scenes dedication that leaves this organization in an exciting new chapter full of possibilities and of course printmaking! To the MAPC Membership, you make this organization extraordinary! Thank you for bringing your work, your PRINTELLIGENCE, and your belief in MAPC to Baton Rouge! To my fellow panelists @sarahsmelserprints and @nathanpietrykowski I look forward to continuing WALKING=THINKING=MAKING together! To my @jmu_sadah students, thank you for joining me on this print adventure! I’m grateful we got to share this opportunity to learn, explore, and celebrate printmaking together. I hope you carry that PRINTELLIGENCE back into the studio and into the next chapters of your creative careers. No photographs or words can fully capture what this experience has meant to me. Printmaking is MAGIC!

MAPC PRINTELLIGENCE 💫🦐🌈 BATON ROUGE, LA brought together so many beautiful people and their prints. Feeling full with gratitude and inspiration that I’m excited to bringing back into the studio. Looking forward to applying some of what I’ve learned over the past week and expanding my research. The @midamericaprint conference was hosted by @lsu.art @lsuprintmaking who boast some of the best print facilities in the country. Big thanks and hugs to @pt_press who’s worked tirelessly over the past year + to help make this conference to make this experience a reality for me and everyone else who attended. Here’s a glimpse of some conference highlights and some new friends I made along the way 🫶🏻

The MAPC Board is so excited to present the Junk Drawer Exchange Portfolio! A “junk drawer” is a designated, often chaotic household drawer used for storing miscellaneous yet frequently needed items. This finite space, filled with potential and utility, becomes a collection of evocative objects we are reminded of when searching for something specific. A chorus, a collection, a pile of things that somehow belong together. This portfolio is a Junk Drawer: a collection representing the brilliant potential within the MAPC Board, where individual roles come together to create a sense of utility, collaboration, and home. Over the past two years, these artists, educators, and coordinators have worked closely alongside one another, relying on each other when called upon. This portfolio reveals their communal junk drawer—the knowledge, experiences, and contributions they have gathered and shared in support of one another’s success. They are the shiny pennies, paperclips, and loose batteries that find a home among the chaos. —————— Don’t miss your chance to take home a print, book, or portfolio - the Silent Auction is open now and closes on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Central Time! Auction proceeds benefit MAPC members through programs like Grants and Member Support. If you’re joining us at the conference, you can see the prints in person in the Barnes Ogden Foundations Room, or view and bid online. Link in the Bio!

Dolly Parton ¡Presente! Last month, Dolly Parton, queen of country music and great unifier of humankind, died at 80. Parton was not only an extremely talented and prolific song writer–with over 3,000 songs in her catalog–but one of the single most magnanimous people of the past century. Though she resisted giving herself political labels, Parton's impact on the world was definitely political. Two of her overtly political songs include her 1980 cover of Woody Guthrie’s 1948 “Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos),” showing solidarity with immigrants. It has become even more timely today. Her song "9 to 5" raised awareness of sexual harassment at the workplace more than a decade before it was raised by Anita Hill. To name a few acts of generosity: She was a huge advocate and supporter for reading and literacy. By 2024, 1 in children under the age of 5 in the U.S. received a free book in the mail each month from her Imagination Library program. She used some of her royalties from Whitney Houston’s cover of “I Will Always Love You” to invest in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Nashville. She raised $1 million dollars to open a new hospital and cancer center in Sevier County in 2007 and opened the Dolly Parton Center for Women’s Services in 2010. In 2016, Parton raised $13 million in a telethon after the devastating East Tennessee wildfires and gave $1,000 a month for six months to families whose homes were destroyed. Her support still helps residents pay for rent and utilities, food, and mental health. She raised $700,000 to help residents hit by catastrophic flooding in Middle Tennessee in October 2021. And she openly expressed love and support for everyone, no matter how controversial: trans people, the Black Lives Matter movement, people struggling with addiction, and people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. No matter how many times she expressed support for a community under attack, she remained impervious to the hate and vitriol commonly used against the marginalized. Her genuine kindness and generosity offered us all hope that, through the darkness, we can all find a way back to each other. Poster by @burtnaay
