🌲 A look inside my French Trade Haversack!

Currently exploring Norway with my haversack from @thehiddenwoodsmen . 🇳🇴

I like to keep my kit simple and travel light, especially when I’m out exploring for the day. I try to carry versatile gear that I actually use and that doesn’t weigh me down.

A map, compass, and binoculars are always part of my setup, especially when exploring unfamiliar places or looking for wildlife.

8x42 binoculars for scouting the area and observing wildlife. Spotted an Elk 🫎 on my first day here in Norway 🇳🇴

US Poncho from @helikontex ! Big fan of that poncho, makes a great shelter if you want to rest a bit, make a fire and drink some tea

My Tenskum Bush Tool I forged last year + my leatherman, Strop and ferro rod

Can’t go out with some good snacks! Really enjoying this Elk sausage 🫎

@exotac makes these great, simple and small helpers. Big fan of the lighter sleeve and the pocket field repair kit with needle, thread and gorilla tape

I like to carry the small @silkyeurope pocket to process some fire wood or even collect a tree burl when I find one

Super light and simple headlight with a red light option :)

I often use the poncho to make a quick shelter, never leave with out mit Quick deployable ridgeline :)

Really like this incredibly light waterfilter from @katadyn_group - here are plenty of water sources in Norway 🇳🇴

Simple first aid ⛑️ kit and hygiene wipes

This canteen from @keitheurope fits very well in my haversack and I love to make tea with the nesting cup while being outside

Honorable mention: all the things you can craft beeing outdoors- for example this wedge is a great helper and works incredibly well to split big parts of wood :)

🌿Das Feuer frisst sich langsam ins Holz.🌿

In der Wildnispädagogik geht es nicht darum, schnell fertig zu werden. Es geht darum, Geduld zu lernen, das Material zu verstehen und den richtigen Moment zu spüren.

Das Holz gibt den Weg vor.
Das Feuer hilft uns dabei.
Und unsere Hände vollenden, was die Natur begonnen hat.

Jede Kerbe, jeder Riss und jede Brandspur darf bleiben. Denn draußen lernen wir: Nicht alles muss perfekt sein, um wertvoll zu sein.

Am Ende ist es mehr als eine Schale mit einem Löffel. Es ist Zeit am Feuer, Verbindung zur Natur und die Erfahrung, mit den eigenen Händen etwas geschaffen zu haben.

Denn manchmal erschaffen wir etwas mit unseren Händen und merken erst später: Eigentlich haben wir dabei uns selbst wiedergefunden.

Here are a few of my favorite things for the great outdoors. ⚙️ 🏕️

Besides tarps and backpacks,I wanted to share some of the tools, books and other items I like to take with me or prepare before going outside. These are all things I have used a lot in the field and can genuinely recommend.

Some are practical, others are just great to have around, but all of them are things I enjoy using and taking with me.

As you now I am a neck carry person and these are my current favorites. My own bushtool that I made myself in the middle, next to two Andal tools from @jamesandal

Legendary @silky_saws , great saws and you can strike a ferro rod with it 🪚 at the moment I like the pocket version the most.

@leathermantools free P4 my favorite multitool. After I saw @clayhayeshunter using it in the field I had to get one too. Great tool!

The quick deployable ridgeline! Learned this from @blackie_thomas_channel and @pathfindersurvival

Super quick and fast method to set up camp with this!

Got this signed copy from Lars, winter is coming, always a student! A lot of wisdom in here. It’s time for me to learn how to make snowshoes ❄️

@trangia_sweden makes these awesome all in one cooking systems! Big fan of it, I made a reel about it two weeks ago :)

My favorite gloves from @hestragloves with the lanyard hook my friend @field_tools___ludens gifted me 🇯🇵

@stevenrinella makes great videos and books about hunting! Very thankful for this book 📕

My favorite waterfilter is the titanium version from @thegrayl took it all over Europe - Never failed

The famous Mors pot from @pathfindersurvival ! Just a great a simple pot that has many usages! 1.9 liters !

Gifted from my friend @buckeye_bushcraft big fan of the fire starting tools from @exotac always have these with me!

Sharpening tools from @ardennescoticule @officialfallkniven and @casstromknives . Many times I only take the leather strop with me.

This was probably the hottest outdoor day of the year. 40°C (104°F), about every 20 minutes it was time to jump back into the lake just to cool down. 🏕️

For days like this, I really like the plow point tarp setup. It gives good shade while keeping the sides open enough to let the wind move through the camp. Simple and quick to pitch 🌲 @bushcraftspain

With everything being so dry, making a fire was of a good idea. The classic @trangia_sweden stove I got from my friends at @scandicoutdoor was a great way to get a quick meal going without an open fire.

As much as I enjoy summer, I’m already looking forward to autumn. There will probably be a few more warm days ahead, but slowly the season is starting to turn.

Cooler nights, changing leaves and longer evenings around camp aren’t too far away. 🍂🏕️

🛶 Canoeing, exploring islands and baking bread.

Luckily, the wind calmed down by morning and the water was much quieter than it had been along the shore the evening before. Good conditions for canoeing and exploring some more of the islands.

This time we went ashore and decided to bake some bread over the fire. Not the usual flat bannock we often make, but a proper little loaf with a bit of volume. We were pretty happy with the result: see slide 5. 🍞🔥

I also used my Mora Classic quite a bit on this trip: always a pleasure to work with it!

A good morning on the water and a good day spent exploring the islands. 🌲🛶

🛶 🏕️ 🇸🇪 Canoeing in Sweden is a lot of fun. The waters seem endless, with countless little islands to check out and explore along the way.

You can feel extremely secluded and remote out here, which is something I really enjoy. Out here, I love exploring and practicing my skills. making feather sticks, working on my friction fire skills. or simply sitting down and reading one of my favorite books by Mors Kochanski

Simple things, good times outdoors.

I know it’s over 25 degrees celcius at the moment and we’ve just been through a heat wave but here’s me and @bushcraftsman in warm clothes making a fire and cooking in sweden a few months ago 🔥

🌿 Exploring and scouting the vast, mountainous landscapes of Greece 🇬🇷 has been an absolute joy. Heading into the hills with my haversack @thehiddenwoodsmen and binoculars @steiner.optik.adventure to observe, wander, and learn more about this beautiful country.

I also found some nice mullein, so it seemed like the perfect chance to spend some time practicing my hand drill friction fire. Along with me came the bearing block my friend @nathanvalentine_07 made and the hearth board from @otter_raft_bushcraft . I always enjoy carrying and using gear made by good friend!

Having forests, mountains, and the sea all within reach is something completely new for me!

🇩🇪 Mitten im Wald, direkt am Bach und fern vom Lärm. Genau hier fühlt sich Freiheit am ehrlichsten an. Ein kleines Camp, das Rauschen des Wassers, frische Waldluft und Zeit, die plötzlich langsamer läuft. Während die Welt weiterzieht, bleibe ich noch einen Moment genau hier.

🇬🇧 Deep in the woods, right by the stream, far from the noise. This is exactly where freedom feels most genuine. A small camp, the sound of rushing water, fresh forest air, and time that suddenly slows down. While the world moves on, I stay right here for a moment longer.

🌲 Time for a new adventure! This time we’re exploring the great outdoors of Greece 🇬🇷

I’m out with my @pathfindersurvival Scout Pack, and now in my second year of using it. Its a great pack for shorter adventures and overnight trips.

I also packed my fishing rod, my oilskin canvas groundsheet @bushcraftspain , paired with the Tipi Lavvu that my friend @wildoor.de made. And of course, my @thegrayl came along too, on these warmer days it’s important to stay hydrated 💧

We will set up camp by the lake, spend some time fishing, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and slow down for a while.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend, and I hope you find some time to get outside and enjoy nature.
