🎬 - RESIDENT EVIL DUBAI PREMIERE
📍 - Dubai Mall, Reel Cinemas (Dolby Atmos: Screen 7)

Yesterday night, I had the privilege of attending the Dubai premiere of the latest live-action horror video-game adaptation : Resident Evil, thanks to the invite by @empire_movies and the awesome hosting by @reelcinemas at their Dolby screen!

I went into this film with absolutely no expectations considering I haven't followed the game series, neither any external media related to RE. However, I had an absolute BLAAAST with this film!

A perfect blend of gut-churning gore, anxiety-inducing tension and laugh-out-loud humor, Resident Evil knows it out of the park and subverts all expectations that both fans of the game or horror fans may have in general. Loved every action sequence due to the sweeping camerawork that immerses you into Brian's POV and makes you feel like you're actually playing a video game. The last 10 minutes felt a little scattershot for me, and this may not be everyone's cup of tea due to the brutal violence and extreme profanity, but Resident Evil ranks as one of the best horror films of 2026 so far. 🎬 - THE UPRISING DUBAI PREMIERE
📍 - Dubai Mall, Reel Cinemas (Platinum Suites: Screen 2)

Yesterday night, I had the privilege of attending the Dubai premiere of the latest Andrew Garfield history flick: The Uprising, thanks to the invite by @italiafilm.me and the luxurious hosting by @reelcinemas at their platinum suite! Such a cool first-time experience!

I went into this film with extremely high expectations, considering the trailer was beautifully edited and Andrew Garfield usually never misses. Yet sadly...this was not my cup of tea. Great visuals paired with a haunting score and an absolutely sublime performance by Andrew Garfield, but it's awfully paced, all over the place and too tedious to get invested into.

Overall rating: ⭐⭐.5/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and catch it in theatres now if you're a fan of Old England tales or a die-hard Andrew Garfield fan!

Cocktail 2 – A Beautiful Drink, But Missing the Kick of the Original

Rating: ⭐⭐½ / 5

Some films are difficult to review without comparing them to their predecessors. Cocktail 2 is one of them. Not because a sequel must repeat everything that worked before, but because the original Cocktail had something this film noticeably lacks: characters you genuinely cared about.

Cocktail 2 has the ingredients of a modern Bollywood romance — beautiful locations, attractive leads, stylish visuals, good music and plenty of relationship drama. But somewhere between all the glamour and emotional chaos, the film forgets to make its love triangle truly believable.

The biggest problem is the writing.

The story asks the audience to invest in complicated choices and messy relationships, but the characters are not developed strongly enough for those choices to feel emotionally convincing. Instead of feeling like real people making questionable decisions, they often feel like characters being pushed from one dramatic situation to another.

The comparison with Cocktail (2012) is unavoidable

The original Cocktail was far from perfect. Its ending and gender dynamics were debated even then. But it had one major advantage: Veronica, Meera and Gautam felt memorable.

Veronica, especially, had layers. Behind the carefree, wild personality was loneliness and vulnerability. Meera and Gautam also had a dynamic that made the emotional conflict feel more natural. You may not have agreed with every decision, but you understood why these people were hurting.
