🎤🐛 EVERYTHING ON THE TABLE | PART 2

What exactly does a Lake County Board member do? 🤔

In Part 2 of my conversation with newly appointed District 9 Board Member @bxewing , we break down the responsibilities of the position and what serving the community really involves.

And as his longtime friend, I share why I initially had some reservations. Not because I didn’t believe in him, but because I understood the weight of the responsibility.

💬 How well do you know what your local elected officials actually do?

🐛💚 WHO’S SHOWING UP FOR OUR GENERATION?

One thing I discussed during my interview with newly appointed Lake County Board District 9 member Brandon X. Ewing was the importance of millennials creating and strengthening our own sense of community.

We talk a lot about wanting change, support, and opportunities, but how often are we actually showing up for one another?

For me, this interview wasn’t just about politics. It was about friendship, community, accountability, and recognizing that we all have a role to play in building the spaces and connections we want to see.

Now I want to hear from YOU! 👀

Do you feel like our generation has lost its sense of community, or have we simply changed the way we connect? And what do you think we can do to bring that sense of togetherness back?

🎤 More clips from my conversation with @bxewing coming soon!

So incredibly proud of my friend @bxewing who’s running for Lake County Board District 9!

He had no idea I was wiggling my way back home for his event. 🤭Definitely couldn’t miss a huge moment like that.

It was beautiful seeing a room full of family, friends, community members, and leaders come together to celebrate such a big moment. Watching someone you’ve known personally step into a new chapter is something special, and I’m grateful I got to be there for it.

From President of the School Board to Lake County Board Member! You were made for this and more! 🙌🏾

Tonight I had the privilege of joining my colleagues at a wonderful fundraiser for my good friend and Lake County Board colleague, Paul Frank!

Having worked alongside Paul, I can tell you firsthand that he is one of the most thoughtful and dedicated public servants I know. He’s an active listener who genuinely cares about the people he serves, as well as an incredible mentor and colleague to those of us on the board.

Lake County will be in fantastic hands with Paul as our next County Board Chair. Excited to work with him in this next chapter! 👏🇺🇸

Congratulations to @ildcca on another amazing brunch! This year’s celebration was extra special because it honored retiring Illinois Senator @durbincampaign 💙 @jbpritzker, @elizabethwarren, and our statewide candidates did a wonderful job honoring Senator Durbin and firing everyone up for the midterms. Let’s go, Democrats!

Exciting day at our Lake County Board meeting. We honored US Senator Dick Durbin for his career and years of service to our country. It was an honor having Senator Durbin join us today. We also swore in our newest colleague County Board Member Brandon X Ewing @bxewing ! Congratulations Brandon I'm looking forward to working with you! And we chose Jennifer Clark to serve as our next Board Vice Chair. Congratulations Jennifer!

I was honored and delighted to attend and speak at my friend and County Board colleague Sara Knizhnik’s 2nd Annual Best Friend BBQ Fundraiser!

Sara is a dedicated public servant, a passionate advocate for gun violence prevention, and someone who brings both heart and determination to her work. I’m so proud to know her, work alongside her, and support her efforts to build safer, stronger communities.

Congratulations, Sara, on another wonderful event! ❤️

Congratulations to Brandon X. Ewing (@bxewing) for being nominated as the Democratic candidate for Lake County Board District 9. Brandon is the candidate in this fall's special election to replace the late Mary Ross Cunningham. Brandon has been a community leader for years, including President of the Waukegan Board of Education. Mary's successor, of course, has big shoes to fill. Brandon is an exciting choice who will make the office his own when he represents the people of Waukegan. Congrats, Brandon!

This weekend, I was proud to join neighbors from across Lake County at the Juneteenth Parade & Festival in Waukegan to celebrate freedom, resilience, and the rich contributions of the African American community. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom and opportunity must be continually expanded and protected for everyone.

I am grateful to the organizers, volunteers, performers, and vendors who made this celebration possible.
