221B by @by.whatever With a name that evokes the world’s most famous detective, 221B carries the legacy of Sherlock Holmes’ Baker Street address. Designer @alcoven reimagined the heritage private investigation firm with a refined, modern identity that honors its past without leaning on detective clichés. Whatever Studio approached the rebrand with restraint and precision. Clean typography, a muted color palette, and a focus on functionality replace the usual noir tropes, creating a brand that feels intelligent, discreet, and enduring. The result is a sophisticated visual system that captures the essence of investigation through clarity and craft. #branding #brandidentity #branddesign

With a name that instantly evokes the world’s most famous detective, 221B draws direct inspiration from Sherlock Holmes’ iconic address on Baker Street. But rather than leaning on overused detective clichés, @by.whatever & @alcoven approached the rebrand of this heritage private investigation firm with a distinct mission: to modernize its identity while paying homage to its legacy — all with subtlety and restraint. Recent branding & animations for a PI group in Chicago 🕵️‍♂️ 🔍 221B is named after Sherlock Holmes address on Baker St. I got really excited when this project hit my inbox and I was able to help refresh a heritage Private Investigator’s look and feel. Was a challenge to refrain from using imagery and classic tropes of the PI world. - Done in collaboration with Proper Work

Friday Likes 520 • From Audrie Kapinus, @by.whatever, and @kamilla_oblakova — 🧑‍💻 BRAND NEW’S TAKE Some lively and charming packaging this week, with work from Brooklyn 🇺🇸, Chicago 🇺🇸, and possibly somewhere in Spain 🇪🇸. — 🧑‍💼 ABOUT THE CLIENTS @mez.foods is a non-chocolate chocolate bar that is made from the fruit of the mesquite tree which is described as having a chocolatey, sweet, and cinnamony taste that Mez then turns into a trio of delicious-sounding concoctions. • @drinkspritzi is an effervescent cold brew drink available plain or infused with flavors like grapefruit citrus and strawberry dragonfruit. • @matchayalll is a matcha and mushroom blend created by two sisters in Austin, TX. Hence, the “y’all”. The packaging, designed by Spain(?)-based Kamilla Oblakova, answered the founders’ brief of mixing a cowgirl and a matcha cup with Texan flair perfectly by, well, placing a cowgirl on top of a matcha cup and riding it like a bull at a rodeo. — #reviewed #branding #identity #2024 #brandnewbyucllc #fridaylikes #consumerproducts #chocolate #drink #tea

Excited to share branding for our friends at @unisunstudio. Love working on music and art related brands. Had a lot of fun playing with the word and how it’s almost an ambigram. It uniformly reads upside down and right-side up with a touch of motion.
