I’m the flex. I’m the motion. I’m the prize. ✨
No matter the room, the company, or the day — God has qualified me for every opportunity meant for me.

Going into my 12th NABJ Convention, I’m filled with pride and optimism when I think about how far I’ve come since I was a Grambling freshman in 2012 — and even more excited about where I’m going.

The plans I have for @winsforblackgirls and @watchmewin stretch far beyond anything I could have imagined back when I was listening to Bucks games on the radio and writing novels as a young girl growing up in Milwaukee.

I owe it to my younger self to leave no goal unchecked. To dream bigger. To keep going. To bet on what God placed inside of me.

All I need is faith the size of a mustard seed.
God will handle the rest. 🌱

And a special thank you to my mentors and mentees who continue to support my mission to spread good news and spotlight underrepresented voices.

This morning I read Isaiah 54, and the very first word is "SING!" 🎶

In Hebrew, sing is translated to ranan which means to cry out with joy, shout, and triumph. It means OVERCOME. No matter what came against me, God commands me to SING.

Shame tries to silence people, but I have decided that I will sing a VERY LOUD SONG. 🗣️🔊🎶

(This post was delayed, but that's okay because I wasn't DENIED! 💃🏾😂🙌🏾)

I arrived at the Assembly Center and remember thinking, "Wow. I was a college dropout, but now I'm a college graduate. God made that happen." I had many thoughts but what mattered most wasn't the emotions or side thoughts of that day—it was that I was there, surrounded by family and friends who witnessed God's goodness in my life. ❤️

To everyone who attended, prayed, sent gifts, purchased shirts, celebrated from afar, or helped make the day special—thank you. I love and appreciate you. 🥹💜

As the first college graduate among my mother's children, it is an honor to help pave the way and tell a story that isn't perfect—but is overcoming. ✨

My last semester stretched me spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. There were moments when I told God, "I can't take this anymore."

But I OVERCAME.

Revelation 12:11 says, "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony."

So here's part of mine:

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Theater. 🎓

Years ago, God told me to change my major from Theater to Psychology. I cried—but I obeyed. I didn't know that decision would challenge me, strengthen my faith, and prepare me for a greater purpose.

Every semester became a lesson in becoming.

God wastes nothing.

What looked like loss became gain.
What felt like defeat became growth.
What seemed impossible became a testimony.

If God can bring a college dropout back to school and carry her all the way to graduation, He can do the same in any area of your life. 🙏🏾✨

You are not a failure.
You are not defeated.
You are not who people said you are.

You are an OVERCOMER. ❤️

Until my next graduation post... 🎓🙌🏾💜✨
