POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“For me, homes should be relaxed and fun and silly,” says Catherine Reynolds of her tiny one-bedroom @dotcottage, tucked right beside the Landgate entrance to Rye’s medieval centre. “I exist somewhere between a tiny girl and a really old woman and Dot is an amalgamation of both. But she has a life of her own and I think she expresses herself beautifully so I leave her to it.”

It’s a joyful mash-up of kitsch and chintz, flea market finds and art by Catherine and her artist friends. A collection of ceramic Staffordshire dogs above the wood burner, mismatched crockery in the dresser. Almost everything has had another life before coming to live at Dot: the splashback in the kitchen was once part of a snooker table, the ornate bedhead used to be a mantelpiece.

“The bed is a bit of a big deal, a bit Princess and the Pea. But what I love most are the tiny details – the mini heart lock in the bedroom, the bow hook that has travelled with me for about 20 years.”

Plan a magpie Rye weekend at Dot with Catherine’s favourite places for a rummage:
++ I love charity shops and car boots but my top spots for inspiring art and antiques are @mccullyandcrane, @soapandsalvation and @puckhaberdecor.
++ For vintage clothing, swing by @hawkanddovevintage.
++ You can’t come to Rye without going to @merchantandmills and their new store HOUSE (@merchantandmillshouse). There’s also a shop called @toomuch_rye – they aren’t always open which makes them even more coveted.
++ Dungeness is otherworldly – and the Snack Shack (@dungenessfishhut) does amazing food, the potatoes are unreal.

Siobhán and Lorcan had a destination wedding in France. "We wanted the wedding to feel personal without filling it with obvious or trending details for the sake of it. Our Irish upbringing came through particularly in the ceremony, melding our own Irish traditions with the beautiful French scenery."

When we approached Sundari for the last Wyrd Retreat. I knew I wanted her to run our Portraits as Empathy session.
It’s completely evident in her work how much of her approach towards people helps them with being their guard down. In that moment, being completely themselves.. I think so much of that is just how Sundari is as a human being, seeing the person in front of her and them completely trusting in the moment.

This was reflected in her talk and evidently as you can see from the incredible work splayed out on the floor.

This was one of the parts I’ll never forget.

One of the best weddings ever 🤍
My beautiful sister @ellierosehodgson married her bestest buddy @morganpatricksomers .

I had the privilege of doing the venue flowers for them @nancarrowfarmwedding . There was no brief just full permission to do what I felt would work.

Not going to lie some serious sweat, horse fly bits, draining my vans air conditioning and a whole lotta LOVE went into this wedding.

A big shout out to the female boss ladies that helped make it happen @cutthroatflowers @small_fields_flowers @hendrafarmflowers @the_composery

And the amazing and wonderfully fun @bysundariphoto for capturing everything perfectly.

Absolute magic

Siobhan and Lorcan’s wedding was full of joy and happiness, tenderness and love.

Every detail had been so well prepared to make it personal, warm and friendly.
