This year, we had the honor of participating in the Newhall Fourth of July Parade for the very first time, and getting to share that experience with our grandsons made it even more meaningful.

We’re so grateful to be part of a community that continues to bring people together and celebrate what makes Newhall such a special place to call home.

Some families bond over vacations, dinners, or weekend entertainment.

For us… it’s Jiu Jitsu.

When we first started Jiu Jitsu, the goal was simple. We wanted something we could do together as a FAMILY. Something that would challenge us, make us grow, and give us time side by side doing something meaningful.

Somewhere along the way, it became more than just training.

It became our lifestyle.

These days we spend over 30 hours a week together at Jiu Jitsu — training, learning, supporting each other, and pushing through hard days together.

Our schedules revolve around it.
Our conversations revolve around it.
Our lives revolve around it.

Even our youngest, Ryder, already loves being around it. The mats, the energy, the people — it’s become part of the rhythm of our FAMILY.

This upcoming weekend feels like one of those moments where everything comes full circle.

For the first time, our entire FAMILY will step into competition together.

Not just watching.
Not just coaching.
But truly walking through the experience side by side.

The nerves.
The pressure.
The growth that comes with putting yourself out there.

This moment isn’t about one person.

It’s about all of us — a FAMILY that chose to fully commit to something together. To show up for each other, to push each other, and to chase the best versions of ourselves that we can possibly become.

That said… I’m incredibly proud of Taylor.

Competing was never something she chased or even talked about wanting to do. But sometimes the most powerful example we can give our kids is simply being willing to step into something uncomfortable.

No hesitation. No excuses. Just action.

This upcoming weekend our FAMILY steps on the mats together.

Not just as competitors.

But as a team. As a FAMILY.

And no matter what happens…

That alone is already the BIGGEST WIN WE COULD ASK FOR!

Whatever’s next. I’m certain it will be together. As a FAMILY.

For me, 2025 was a year of reflection and growth.
