POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

March 2026 was a big month for the garden with the new addition of our cob oven! Here's a little time lapse of setting the fire bricks all the way to doing the final touches of putting the cob onto the sand frame. We had a great turnout of our garden crew, mostly OG's but some new friends as well.

Join us for a hands-on elderberry workshop using local, community-foraged elderberries. You’ll make and take home your own jar of elderberry syrup while learning about its traditional uses, seasonal wellness benefits, and the role of elder trees in local restoration efforts. All supplies are provided, plus light refreshments and good company.

✨ Come connect with community, share stories, and celebrate the magic of the season together!

We will be holding the workshop somewhere in Oakland or Berkeley—depending on the number of folks interested.

About the hosts:

✨ Cameron (he/him) is a community organizer and co-founder of the Oakland Urban Farming Project. Since January 2023, he’s been organizing restoration days and maintaining the elder tree grove along Sausal Creek, watching these native plants thrive as they provide food and medicine for our community. Through hands-on restoration initiatives like Protect Our Elders, and workshops like this elderberry syrup-making gathering, he enjoys sharing the practical knowledge and deep connection that comes from tending the land we care for together.

✨ Ahna (she/her) is playful by nature—a mixed Coast Miwok maker who loves wild places, movement, adventure, and exploring the magic of plants. First sparked during quiet seasons in the Sebastopol woods as a way to tend to her sensitive skin, her practice grew into a curiosity about the healing plants of her ancestral landscapes in Sonoma and Marin counties. She is starting her journey in facilitating workshops on native plants.

Enjoying our little community food forest. A respite from the happenings of the city. Walk around, pick some food and relax.

Our 1st Annual Earth Day Block Party was a huge success! Couldn't have been happier with the turnout, the weather, the fact it landed on Easter (where we randomly had an Easter Bunny show up!).

We have such an incredible community here in Oakland and to celebrate this beautiful land project that was initiated back on an Earth Day in 2016, it was just an incredible way to celebrate the Earth and the work we've all done together here in the East Lake area of Oakland.

We can think differently about every piece of Earth we walk by, each presence saying "Hello". This is how we can sometimes say more than just Hello back, but also Thank You.

Magically the New Eden board was found in the little strip behind this one. Already named is a good sign. We hope it draws more pollinators as we plant native species next. Just feet away the native flowers in a well maintained (by community) traffic circle, all making an incredible pollinator pathway to @gravitygarden

💚🌱🤗 Yesterday I met some #art collectors of mine (a beautiful couple)! I had no idea because my #curator was moving pieces for me while I was traveling. They got this artwork that says: “they tried to bury us they didn’t know we were seeds.” 🌱 Ironically, I sold it in 2017 and it’s still growing connections!

🤗🪴 lol and the @c.pres said it’s still the most expensive piece of art he’s ever purchased! 💸 Stick to your #painting prices. Hold your ground. The ones who get it, will get it.

Thankful for such #beautiful #artcollectors! Thankful for the ones who get it! Thankful for my cosmic #gardeners! 👩🏾‍🌾⛲️🌸🌼🌿

A New Year, a greener you... 2024 diversion data and resolutions 🌱
•
Decisions matter... every year :) Look at what we accomplished TOGETHER.
•
THE NEW YEAR MARKS A TIME OF REFLECTION...
•
We’re beyond grateful for YOU, our loyal refill community, and all the small, but mighty, steps you took this year to ditch single-use waste. Every jar refilled, every bottle reused, and every conversation shared about reducing waste makes a real and lasting difference. So, thank you!
•
Here’s what we accomplished at Re-Up together in 2024...
•
162,281 single-use containers diverted from the landfill. That’s 202 cubic yards of trash, enough to fill 101 dumpsters to the brim. 🫙
•
Since we started in 2020, we have collectively diverted 477,085 containers. That’s 602 cubic yards of trash, enough to fill 305 dumpsters to the brim. Not too shabby, huh? 🗑️
•
And it’s all because of YOU — our dedicated refillers who keep showing up, bringing your own containers, and making small but powerful choices for you, your home, your community, and our shared planet.
•
Got a refillable resolution for 2025?
•
New Year’s resolutions don’t always have to be about giving things up. This year, how about committing to refilling more, ditching a single-use habit, and bringing a friend into Re-Up Refills? Maybe this is the year Re-Up becomes your go-to grocery store, cutting your household waste even more. Whatever you choose, we’re here for it (and for you)!
•
Thanks for being a big part of it. Keep refilling and see you at the shop!
