🌳 The Cork Oak House by @gosplanarchitects Reinterprets Sardinia’s 1970s Architectural Heritage 🌳 An old cork oak, the limestone silhouette of Tavolara in the background, and a 1970s #house brought back to life through the reorganisation of its spaces around a central void. Casa della Sughera (The Cork Oak House) by Gosplan reimagines an existing residence on the Sardinian coast not through the addition of new volumes, but through the subtraction of built mass. A traversable central void connects the terrace, swimming pool, living spaces and the cork oak itself, establishing a renewed dialogue between architecture and landscape. Outside, the landscape design by @caarpa_ extends this spatial logic into a sequence of outdoor rooms, including the “cork-oak room.” Drawing on the organic architectural language that shaped the coastal residences of #sardinia during the #1970s, the project goes beyond conventional renovation to critically reinterpret a historical architectural vocabulary through contemporary principles of spatial continuity, restraint and sensitivity to place. 📸 @annapositano #archisearch #italy

Redefining the Relationship Between Architecture and the Garden How a single change in level became an architectural gesture—connecting movement, landscape, and light. A closer look at Scala San Filippo by caarpa, where a subtle shift in the terrain inspires a sculptural steel staircase and a delicate greenhouse, creating a seamless dialogue between the existing garden, architecture, and the surrounding landscape. What do you think—can a staircase become more than just a means of movement? Architecture, Design & Landscape: caarpa Structural Engineer: Eng.

Though smaller than Sardinia and Sicily, Tavolara boasts an equally picturesque landscape, dotted with striking coastal residences. In early 2020, the Genoa-based practice Gosplan Architects (@gosplanarchitects) was commissioned to reimagine and update one such coastal property dubbed Casa della Sughera (Cork Oak House in Italian). As part of the renovation, the studio preserved the two main wings of the original 1970s structure and introduced a series of pathways in collaboration with landscape designers from the multidisciplinary firm Caarpa (@caarpa_). Together, they merged the nearly 2,000-square-foot residence with the more than 10,000-square-foot outdoor area. Read the full story at the link in bio. 🖋️ @evanpavka 📷 @annapositano

. articolo completo su professionearchitetto.it 👉🏻 notizie . . #caarpa #genova #garden #architecture #design

〰️〰️Architecture as a Performative Practice: The Beach〰️〰️ Architecture Depends (2009)—on what? British architect Jeremy Till‘s answer is: on people, time, politics, ethics, and mess—the real world. Mixing anecdote, design, social theory, and personal experience, Till argues that architecture cannot be understood as an autonomous discipline defined solely by the production of buildings, but rather as a contingent practice defined by the production of space as experience and embedded within temporal processes. Within this shift, space is understood as a field of dynamic assemblages composed of bodies, voices, movements, and narratives. The beach is often understood as a natural landscape; yet on a summer day it also becomes a social landscape, one that is continuously designed and redesigned by its users. Without walls, streets, or permanent buildings, people nevertheless create an intricate spatial order through the placement of towels, umbrellas, chairs, coolers, and recreational equipment. This temporary but highly organized occupation can be understood as a form of architecture where human behaviour, social conventions, and environmental conditions define the structure of space, echoing Jan Gehl’s (2011) understanding that public space is produced through patterns of everyday life rather than through its physical form alone. Unlike conventional architecture, the architecture of the beach is ephemeral. It appears in the morning as visitors arrive, reaches maximum density during midday, and gradually dissolves by sunset. Demonstrates the interaction between public and private space in particularly revealing ways, the architecture of the beach is one of coexistence. This is a story about the beach as a living laboratory for observing how people transform nature into temporary habitation, how they negotiate shared space, and how they produce a remarkably sophisticated architecture that exists only for the duration of a summer day. ✍️ @melina.arvaniti.pollatou read more at the 🔗 in bio all credits are tagged on the 📸 #summer #architecture #beach #archt

A garden in Genoa. A slight difference in elevation. An opportunity that most people would have solved with steps and called it done. Scala San Filippo treats the same problem as an architectural statement. A powder-coated iron staircase in a soft, sculptural form connects two levels of the garden while guiding both the eye and the body upward through the space. Alongside it, a glass greenhouse fits into the existing masonry with a light metal structure that maintains constant visual contact with the surrounding vegetation. Antique and contemporary in dialogue, nature and built environment restored to balance. The staircase is the path. The greenhouse is the pause at the end of it. A green microcosm that extends the life of the garden without enclosing it. 📐 @caarpa_ 📸 @annapositano #gardenarchitecture #landscapedesign #italianarchitecture #greenhouse #archilovers
