Last Friday, October 2, brothers gathered at Café By Us in East Orange to speak openly about men’s health, the challenges we carry, and the importance of supporting one another. There’s strength in speaking up, listening, and knowing you don’t have to face everything alone.

St. John Lodge No. 43 PHA was proud to join the conversation, sharing knowledge about men’s health, the importance of voting, and making sure brothers were registered and ready to make their voices heard. We also discussed community issues and how we can help move East Orange forward together. 🗳️

Thank you to Sam “Uncle Sam” Breaker and Café By Us for creating space for fellowship, honest dialogue, and purpose.

Wednesday night was everything I prayed it would be… and more.

My heart is so full. 🫶🏾

Thank you to every woman who said yes to showing up, sharing space, and reminding one another that we were never meant to carry these journeys alone. Every conversation, every hug, every tear, every laugh mattered.

As I drove home Wednesday night rushing to pack to get on a flight, I couldn’t stop thanking God. There are moments when you realize you’re walking in exactly what He called you to do. I’m so grateful that He chose me to steward this mission. It isn’t always easy, but seeing women connect, heal, and leave feeling a little lighter reminded me why I said yes.

This is only the beginning.

Newdirection360 pulled up to Fresh Start Alternative High School, a place dedicated to helping young men and women who faced challenges adapting to traditional school settings due to behavioral struggles and circumstances outside the classroom.

This year we’ve been running our Junior Violence Interrupters program with the youth, and the response has been powerful. The students are opening up, engaging, learning accountability, conflict resolution, and leadership while being surrounded by people who truly understand their realities.
Sometimes our youth don’t need punishment they need guidance, structure, patience, and people willing to believe in them. This is what community work looks like. This is what meeting the youth where they are looks like. Changing lives one conversation, one lesson, and one opportunity at a time. #newdirection #youth #mentorship #eastorange
