Had to archive the present before they could call it history. The University said YES🙂‍↕️ over 2k archives, they the adopted technology, and im on the board. Built @aggiearchives rough in ’22 after COVID took away our yearbook. Really just wanted my friends to have senior pictures and something to remember those years by. That same year, we figured out how to mass-produce yearbooks for a fraction of the cost while offering an always-free alternative. From ’22–’24, we expanded beyond memorabilia and journals, securing grants to hire student teams to document their own culture. Through faculty, friends, mentors, and incubators (much love to @blackambitionprize ), that rough idea grew into the Living Archives Project. Now I’m working to bring this technology into university systems and to revive yearbooks from the students’ POV. I want to preserve the years we spent enjoying our college days. Started off preserving history for my classmates and ended up writing a little of my own. The history belongs to those who document it. Last week we hosted our third panel discussion in partnership with The World Reimagined, on the topic of AI in Education. We welcomed speakers Kelly Webb-Davies, Seth Washington and Suki Fuller and moderator Jovan Owusu-Nepaul. Our brilliant panellists covered topics ranging from AI as the fourth industrial revolution, to data privacy concerns, to using AI as a tool to unlock gatekept educational spaces. They shared their experience and learnings from work and research in policy, intelligence, linguistics and beyond. Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online! It was a lively Q&A, followed by further discussions over drinks and canapes. I was huge, 260lbs at my largest. Got down to 200lbs but I’m not meant to be slim. Forever a fat boy at heart, ain’t ever gone change or forget where I came from. What the world doesn’t tell you about high profile jobs are the steak and lobster dinners, the free alcohol, and the long 12 hour days where your only option is to eat out, that all have consequences and repercussions to your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. This is why I go so hard, I’m still a work in progress but God provides. My confidence comes from God, not in my own abilities. “Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ”.
