One year after the Gaza ceasefire took effect, families with ties to the region are still waiting for what they hoped it would bring: safety, recovery and lasting peace.

Sami Shaban of Franklin Township says his relatives continue to live among rubble and struggle to find clean water. His cousin’s family was killed one week after the ceasefire began.

In Paterson, former Gaza aid coordinator Fares Abu Fares describes some improvements in aid access, but continuing attacks and restrictions on materials needed to rebuild.

Gaza is not a distant story for many of our neighbors. It is family, grief, responsibility and hope carried into everyday life here in New Jersey.

A permanent place to worship. Equal treatment. A sense of belonging.

For Marlboro’s Muslim community, those hopes are at the center of a legal fight after a five-year application process ended in the denial of their proposed mosque.

The federal lawsuit alleges religious discrimination and repeated delays. The mayor supported the denial and has condemned hate speech. The allegations have not been established by a court.

This story is about more than one mosque. It raises questions about the ability of Muslim communities to establish places of worship, gather their families and build a lasting sense of belonging.

Marlboro’s community is challenging the decision in court. What happens next matters to the people who live there, and to Muslim communities across New Jersey.

Dump the $10.1 million liquid Israeli bond immediately!!

Join the Break the Bonds NJ coalition at the quarterly virtual State Investment Council meeting on 10/28/2026 at 10AM to give public comments.

Demand that Director Shoaib Khan immediately divest the liquid, sovereign $10.1 million Israeli bond that NJ taxpayers and pension fund members are paying for!

Background: NJ holds 2 Israeli bonds: One that’s liquid (see above) and one that’s locked in until maturity. In November 2025 Director Khan redeemed the $20 million [illiquid] DCI Bonds at maturity and made a unilateral decision to reinvest those funds in another $15 million DCI Bonds that matures in 2031.

Demand that NJ sells its holdings of > $130 million in Palantir stock.
Oppose Palantir's AI tech surveillance and military role in the Gaza genocide and ICE violence at home!
