It Was Never About The Win

But the embrace.

The embrace of hardship. The kind that’s found in an arena full of your greatest fears. A place where hiding’s no option because who you truly are is revealed.

The embrace of a hug. The kind you only know by how it feels when it’s done with someone who loves you deeply. With people seeing who you are more than what you do or can accomplish.

The embrace of sacrifice. The greatest form of love. The kind found in your crew, race volunteers, and spectators aiming to selflessly will the good of others by sitting with you in your hardship.

The embrace of full submission. The kind found when you realize there is a God, and you’re not Him. Because peace doesn’t come from taking control, but in letting it go.

Every single person out there, by their very presence, created an experience that can never be recreated in the same way. It is because of that very truth that we all walk away victorious.

What an honor it was to experience this moment in time with you.

5th Annual Duluth Run ✅

The route hasn’t changed much in the 5 years of journeying from Duluth to Minneapolis. But each time we take on this challenge, we bring a year’s worth of new experiences with us into it.

Sometimes it’s not about going somewhere new that allows you to think differently, but reflecting on how you’ve changed since the last time you’ve been somewhere familiar.

This year had many highs and lows. They always do. Newcomer Cade PR’d every mile after 30, showing pure grit and determination. It’s been deemed the “Year Of The Caius” because he simply couldn’t miss on his decision making vs ours. And a surprise visit from Ray for the last 26 miles gave the crew the momentum needed to finish strong.

Behind the scenes though, all our better halves helped carry the load. Ivy bringing us up to the start line, Lucy and Kellan making crucial visits for energy and fuel. We needed them, and couldn’t have accomplished this without their love and support. Thank you for being so supportive for these opportunities.

With marriage coming up for me in October, and 4 kids on the way for the others, life will look a lot different come next year’s adventure. Time to live in it and enjoy creating experiences we’ll get to laugh about for another 160.

Keep Going.
