I loveeeeee finishing things. It’s the most thrilling part of the creative process for me. But sometimes, that love for execution makes me resent the small steps, the nitty gritty details, the little logistics that stand in the way of the glorious, satisfying finish line. I forget that it is in the unseen inching forward that creates anything worthwhile. This film for @kravebeauty was a love letter to summer and to the PROCESS. So many hands and hours went into making this strawberry-filled film. We’ve truly been working on it all season. I’ll cherish it forever. Watch the full film on @kravebeauty’s page! Six days before Don’t Let That Hold You Back releases, the coffee shop in New York where I wrote a lot of the book is closing. Feels very sad and strange and so New York. To quote myself from the book (ew what a weird thing to do 😂) when I’m talking about the cities I’ve lived in— “Each city came along at just the right time to invite me to be brave, to risk being new, to build a life beyond what I thought possible for myself. Cities change all the time, but these cities changed me too. New York City has profoundly affected my life.” Cities change all the time. But thank God @purplewaves.nyc and I overlapped. Wish we had one more Friday, @elizabethjmoore, @calebclarke, @cosmic.future, and Audrey. Thank you for helping me finish writing this book that comes out next week, @purplewaves.nyc. You were more than a tiny part of building a better future. 💜
