POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I spent nine years earning the opportunity to interview @dhmeyer and I wasn't showing up empty handed.

In 2017, I wrote Danny's name at the top of a whiteboard in our tiny @calibbqmedia office.
We had a couple of microphones, a little camera, and a dream. Fast forward to 2026. More than 1,500 interviews later, we're heading to San Francisco for the conversation I've been working toward for nine years. But I wanted to bring Danny something meaningful.

In his new book, What Could Possibly Go Right?, Danny writes about “finishing the hat” - creating something that didn't exist before. That idea stuck with me. So I marked the page, texted my friend Nick, and we made Danny a custom hat inspired by his book. Five letters, One question. What could possibly go right?

When I handed it to Danny, his response was everything: “God bless you. I will cherish that.”

Nine years of preparation, thousands of conversations, one unforgettable moment. The interview was the dream, the work was how we got there. And the gift was my way of saying thank you. Don't stop, that's the secret

Thank you to @toasttab and @pepsico for believing and sponsoring our podcast. We are also grateful to @chefmichaelmina and @bourbonsteaksf for setting the table and allowing us to record in their gorgeous restaurant.

Kids have a lot of influence over where families eat. So why are kids menus usually an afterthought?

Restaurant operators obsess over the food, service, technology, and guest experience.

Then there’s the kids menu, the same sheet getting photocopied year after year because updating it keeps falling to the bottom of the list.

That’s where @grublab__ came in for @calibbq

We didn’t have to reinvent the kids' experience. Grub Lab gives something that’s simple for the team and actually fun for the kids.

If you want to be a restaurant families choose, you can’t treat the kids' experience like an afterthought #GrubLab #CaliBBQ #RestaurantHospitality

In 2017, I wrote @dhmeyer name at the top of my dream guest list.

We were in our office across the street from @calibbq A couple microphones, a little camera and a whiteboard.

Nine years later, we finally sat down together.

Every episode along the way was another chance to listen better, ask better questions, and become a better storyteller.

During our conversation, Danny talked about the ups and downs people don’t always see. There’s no straight line between point A and point B.

Just because you want something, doesn’t mean it’s time.

You have to plant the seeds and water them every day, in yourself, your craft, and your product.

Keep doing the work so that when the opportunity comes, you’re prepared to make the most of it.

Quantity + speed + consistency.

What’s on your whiteboard?

Be the show. #dannymeyer #digitalhospitality

The best restaurant solutions make the guest experience better without making the staff’s job harder. That’s what’s great about how @grublab__ works at @calibbq

The kids menus are printed, delivered directly to the door, and ready for the team to hand out. No complicated new process for the staff.

For the kids, the experience doesn’t end when they leave the restaurant, they can take the menu home, keep coloring, and keep playing.

Happy kids = happy parents. A better experience for the entire family #GrubLab #CaliBBQ #RestaurantHospitality

We’re upgrading the network at @calibbq and @f3diaz of @f3inc is here to make it happen with @geteero

That’s the thing about restaurant technology. Sometimes the improvements that matter most aren't the flashy ones, they're the ones that make the experience better for everyone. Huge thanks to Dan and the F3 team for helping us upgrade Cali BBQ.

And we’ve got to move fast because we're catching a flight to San Francisco to interview the legendary @dhmeyer

From upgrading our restaurant to telling the stories of hospitality leaders, the work never stops #CaliBBQ #RestaurantTechnology #DigitalHospitality

A better kids experience can create a better experience for the entire table.

@grublab__ is helping restaurants rethink the traditional kids meal experience with activities featuring brands kids already know, including the NBA, NFL, Minions, and Jurassic.

Kids can color, play games, and stay entertained while they’re at the table.

The kids are having fun, the parents can actually enjoy themselves, and the restaurant creates a better experience for the whole family.

Take care of the kids, and you’re taking care of the entire table #GrubLab #RestaurantIndustry #FamilyDining

Partnered with Cali BBQ and Pricklee 🤝🔥

BBQ brought us to the table, and the conversations kept us there! 🥤✨ A fun night at @calibbq in Spring Valley for a Relisher meetup with @localrelishers—sharing slow-smoked BBQ, sipping @drinkpricklee, and connecting with fellow San Diego creators. 🫶

Love when creating content brings people together over good food! Who’s joining me for the next BBQ night? 👇

A little date night, a LOT of BBQ, and a really fun night connecting with our local community 🥹🤎

We got to spend the evening at Cali BBQ in Spring Valley through Relish, and it was actually our first date night since having our baby girl. So yes… I was very happy to get out of the house 😂

Between the amazing BBQ, getting to check out the smokers, meeting new people, and watching everyone just hang out and connect, it was such a good reminder of how special local businesses and community can be.

Also… the jalapeño cornbread and peach cobbler?? 10/10. 👏🏼

Thank you @calibbq and @localrelishers for such a fun night and for creating spaces that bring people together! 🤎
