Let’s take a closer look at the moon this week 🌙✨ Food lovers and moon enthusiasts alike will fall in love with this book. The moon – always source of inspiration and imagination throughout history of wo*mankind. Setting off on the imaginative journey through fictitious space by browsing the pages of this photo book, the viewer is confronted with a surprising fact on the very last page – turning the reception of the whole book upside down. That last page is the crucial point, where the mystery of the moons’ origin is revealed. One realizes: what you see is not what you look at. You are welcome to join the space trip, feel free to discover formerly unseen images of mysterious moons from an unknown galaxy, as the dawn of reality is catching up behind the scenes. For the first time, 4Plus Documentary Photography Center presented a selection of contemporary Armenian photobooks and photozines at the @leipzigphotobookfestival on March 7–8. The participation was initiated and organized by 4Plus member photographers Nazik Armenakyan and Piruza Khalapyan. Another 4Plus member, photographer Anahit Hayrapetyan also joined us in Leipzig. The Armenian booth featured photobooks and zines by 4Plus photographers and publications produced by the center, works by students of the Patker School, as well as photobooks and photozines by other Armenian authors. We are pleased to inform that the Armenian booth had a significant interest, attracting not only festival visitors but also professionals from the field, including editors, bookstore representatives, curators, and cultural organizations. We would like to express our gratitude to the @hovnanianfoundation for providing individual grants to two 4Plus members, Nazik Armenakyan and Piruza Khalapyan, and for supporting their participation in the festival. We also thank our partner @dienachtpublishing Publishing for the inspiration and for inviting us to participate in the festival.

Two central Panel Discussions deepen the festival theme “Power / Fragility” of this year’s LEIPZIG PHOTOBOOK FESTIVAL, taking place on March 7 & 8! Additionally, Magnum Photos and the Nobel Peace Center discuss how visual storytelling shapes global debates about human rights and peace. ⸺ Sat, Mar 7, 2 pm: “Power and Fragility in the Context of Photobooks” (held in English) explores how artists use the photobook as a portable, immediate medium to communicate ideas. How do artists use this unique form to express and communicate their ideas? And what liberties does it afford them? Join Lina Scheynius @linascheynius, Amin Yousefi @aminyosefi and Arko Datto @arkodatto as they discuss the public and private pleasures of the photobook. Moderation: Diane Smyth @dismy (Editor of British Journal of Photography @bjp1854 and Editor of Photoworks Annual @photoworks_uk). ⸺ Sat, Mar 7, 4:15 pm: “The Potential of Form: Theory of the Photobook” (held in German) focuses on the photobook as an independent medium of photography. The three experts discuss questions about a possible definition of the photobook, its historical development and how form and mediality interact from the perspectives of art history, photography theory and art. With Elisabeth Neudörfl (@folkwang_uni), Bettina Lockemann (artist and scholar), and Vera Knippschild @vera.knippschild (@folkwang_uni). Moderation: Jenny Starick (Art history scholar). ⸺ Sun, Mar 8, 2:45 pm: “Magnum and the Nobel Peace Center: Framing the Fragility of Peace” (held in English) by @magnumphotos & @nobelpeacecenter examines how visual storytelling helps shape global conversations around human rights, justice, and the lived realities of communities affected by war and oppression. With Antoine d’Agata @antoinedagata (photographer), Emin Özmen @emin_ozmen (photographer), Asle Olsen @azlo_nagy (curator of Nobel Peace Center). Moderation: Andrea Holzherr (Magnum Photos). ☞ Read more on PiE: https://www.photographyineurope.com/dienacht-ev-co-halle-14-leipzig-photobook-festival-2026/ Images: 1) © Lina Scheynius. 2) From “Where do we go when the final wave hits” © Arko Datto. 3) © Emin Özmen / Magnum Photos
