Hi Bookstas and Happy Friday 👋

A little late but just popping on with a response to my challenge for @oldskoolchallengeclub - week 4.

My challenge was #bookitechture - house hunting with a difference!

🏢🛖🏛️🏚️🏫🏥🗼

It involved finding books with buildings on the covers - hotels, villas, houses, towers, libraries, shops, temples, pubs, sheds, dens - the more obscure the better - and constructing a stack, flatlay or some form of book building.

I didn’t quite find all of the list but still had a burgeoning property portfolio if I do say so myself 😉 - a bookstore, lighthouse, cottage, haunted house, chateau, theatre and several more.

Not to be outdone by group members 😉, I also constructed a theatre stage 🎭. Swipe to see if you’re so inclined. Not quite what I had in mind, but after the 3679th attempt it wasn’t going to get any better!

I’ve tagged a few of you if you’d like to join in the fun. Apologies if you’re already in the club, you’ve done this challenge or you can’t be ar***!

QOTD: What’s everyone up to this weekend?
AOTD: I’m off to a book event tomorrow with these two lovelies @clairesbookobsession and @whatwouldelizabethread , and seeing Verity on Sunday with a IRL friend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone whatever you’re up to 😊.

I am determined to get this one finished before the end of August! 🧵🍓

I’m back working on Strawberry Season from @littledovecrosstitch patreon, I’m so close now that I’ve decided it has to become an August finish. 😂

I’ve loved watching this cross stitch project come together — the colours are gorgeous and it’s been such a lovely summery stitch.

🎧 I’m also about to start The Tarot Reader of Versailles on audiobook, so today’s plan is basically cross stitch + audiobook and seeing how much progress I can make. My favourite combination! 📚🧵

💬 What are you stitching or listening to this weekend? And do you ever give yourself an end-of-the-month deadline to finish a WIP?

Save this to follow my progress and follow along to see whether Strawberry Season actually becomes an August finish! 🍓

Nearly caught up with my Tiny Modernist stitch along! 🧵✨

Considering I only started this cross stitch SAL three weeks ago — on an aeroplane of all places ✈️ — I’m really pleased with how much progress I’ve made.

I’m absolutely loving the colours in this one and seeing all the little sections slowly coming
together. It’s definitely been one of those cross stitch projects where I keep telling myself “just one more ro” 😂

I don’t have too much more to stitch before I’m completely caught up and ready for the next part!
You can see more of this project, along with my other cross stitch WIPs, embroidery, finishes and crafty chats over on my YouTube channel, CalmStitchRead 🧵📺 — link in bio.

💬 Are you taking part in any stitch alongs at the moment, or is there a SAL you’ve been tempted to join?

Save this to follow my progress, and come and join me over on YouTube for more stitching updates. 💛

If you love cross stitch, stitching updates, Flosstube and seeing what other people have on their hoops, this one’s for you.

Some mornings are made for slowing down. 💛🐈🧵

Now that it's the school holidays, the mornings feel a little less rushed, which means there's more time for Caramel's morning cuddles before I settle down with my cross stitch.

These quiet moments are some of my favourite parts of the day. A cup of tea, cross stitch, a purring cat and a peaceful morning—it doesn't get much cosier than that.

💬 Are you enjoying a slower pace over the summer, or is life still as busy as ever? Let me know in the comments, and save this Reel if you love cosy crafting, cross stitch and cat content.

If you'd like to see everything I picked up—including embroidery, sewing and quilting goodies—my full Craft Haul is now on YouTube.

🎥 The link is in my bio!

💬 Which item from the haul would you be most excited to stitch with? Let me know in the comments, and don't forget to save this Reel if you love discovering new craft inspiration.

🐈🧵 Every embroidery session starts the same way.

Before I can pick up my needle, Caramel has to make sure she's had plenty of fuss first. I wouldn't have it any other way! 💛

Once she's happy, it's finally time to settle down with my embroidery and enjoy a quiet, cosy stitching session.

Does anyone else's pet insist on being part of their favourite hobby?

💬 Tell me about your crafting companion in the comments, and if you'd like to see more cosy embroidery and bookish moments, I'd love for you to give me a follow.
