🦪🔥 Another unforgettable milestone for Red's Oyster Bar!
We had the incredible honor of returning to Cal State LA to cater their Federal Credit Union's Annual Meeting!

For two hours, our family served our signature chargrilled and fresh raw oysters. Seeing guests experience our oysters for the first time and hearing how much everyone enjoyed them made the evening truly special!

This marks our SECOND catering event with Cal State LA this year, following their inaugural LA Car Show back in April!
But our journey with these connections began in 2024, when we participated as food vendors at a golf tournament. That's where we first met Cal State LA President Dr. Berenecea Johnson Eanes and her colleagues!

With her personal connection to Louisiana, Dr. Eanes wanted to see if our oysters were the real deal! Hearing her praise our authentic Louisiana-style flavors was a moment we'll never forget!

Fast-forward two years, and we're incredibly grateful to see how hard work, genuine relationships, and a passion for great food have opened new doors for our father-and-son family business.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Dr. Eanes, the incredible event coordinators, our Red's Oyster Bar team, and everyone who continues to support our oyster movement! Thank you for welcoming us back and allowing us to create another unforgettable experience!

From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our journey! 🦪🔥

What started as family recipes and a dream turned into one of the proudest moments of our lives. ❤️🦪🔥

Cal State LA @calstatela invited Red & Jay’s Oyster Bar to cater the VIP section for their FIRST annual car show — serving over 500+ oysters to an unbelievable crowd all day long.

What truly meant the world to us was hearing that the president of Cal State LA specifically requested us because of past experiences she had with our food. To know that something we created as a family left that kind of impression is something we’ll never forget. 🙏

From the moment the grills fired up, the smell of butter, garlic, bacon, and fresh oysters filled the air. Watching the lines build up, seeing people come back for seconds, hearing everybody talk about the oysters, and seeing the excitement around our booth was surreal.

But the most special part of it all was doing this side by side as a family. All hands were on deck that day — and having my grandfather there watching everything unfold honestly hit different. Seeing his reaction to the crowd, the love from the people, and the impact Red’s Oyster Bar had on everyone around us was emotional for all of us.

Three generations of our family stood behind that booth that day serving with pride. From family kitchen recipes… to serving VIP guests at a university event. God is good. ❤️🦪

We’re beyond grateful to everybody at Cal State LA for trusting us to bring that experience to their event and making us part of such a special day. This wasn't possible without @blesedmom & @blueniteowl626 such a blessing to have family together doing what we love!

📍April 25th, 2026 at California State University, Los Angeles for the 1st Annual CSULA Car Show.

Crowds gathered on campus as Cal State LA hosted its first car show and community festival, bringing together students, local residents, and car enthusiasts. The event was an all makes welcome type of event, including lowriders, imports, and classic builds. The crowd was entertained with music, vendors, and performances by both CSULA students and community groups.

Michael Cooper made an appearance during the event, meeting attendees and signing copies of his book; he will be the CSULA Men’s basketball coach for their upcoming seasons, a transition that marks the start of a more student-centric coaching pipeline. Michael Cooper is a Hall of Fame former Los Angeles Lakers player from the Showtime era who won five championships, as well as an impressive coaching history with the LA Sparks WNBA team (among others), making his presence at the event a window into to LA sports history.

Nearby, the university’s Solar Eagle III was displayed ahead of its transition to the Petersen Automotive Museum, marking a shift from campus project to public exhibit. Built by students, the solar-powered vehicle previously won a cross-country race against major universities, making its presence at the show feel like a send-off.

The event marked a first for the campus, combining car culture with student life and local community in a way that will hopefully extend far into the future!
