The Brandeis Settlement Agreement is an attempt to define what constitutes discrimination against Jews or Israelis. In doing so, the Agreement implicitly conflates Jews, Israelis, and Zionism. That conflation is evident in the notion of hate speech. This talk will explore several definitions of antisemitic expressions, including IHRA’s definition, and challenge their underlying assumptions.

An actvist confronted known genocide denier and Berkeley City councilmeber, Igor Tregub, at a Powwow in Berkeley celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day. No one can claim solidairty with Indigenous people anywhere if they support the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

Igor Tregub recently went viral for his comments describing the GENOCIDE of Palestinians as a "conflict." Tregub has also played a key role in bringing Flock Cameras to Berkeley which have endangered the safety of immigrants and the privacy of all.

Did you know that UC Berkeley owns and operates Flock cameras? While claiming to keep students safe, these cameras surveil students and community members 24/7, sharing personal information to outside police departments and potentially ICE. Information provided by Flock cameras has aided in the kidnappings of immigrants and refugees across the country, including in the East Bay.

This Halloween, UC administrator Seamus Wilmot will review UCB’s contract with Flock. Send an email at the link in our bio to tell Wilmot to cut UCB’s contract with Flock and all ALPR surveillance companies! UC students refuse to be surveilled!

your student-run nonprofit grocery co-op is gonna be in the 🗞️ paper so much, you’re gonna get tired of us being in the paper 📰

the @dailycal covered our support, alongside @calydsa, for the boycott called by @sbworkersunited!

our tiny, mighty member-governed grocery co-op has been building these relationships for years. since 2022, our members have met with local Starbucks worker-organizers to learn what collective change in the food system actually looks like. we’ve shared meals with founding union leaders, including @JazBrisack, and collaborated with @PeetsLaborUnion and @VerveWorkersUnited.

because food justice happens in our neighborhood. in the coffee shop down the street. in food workers organizing together for dignity and a say in the conditions of their work...and in whether the rest of us show up for them.

in our own Collective, we get to practice self-determination through our cooperative structure. that comes with a responsibility to support people fighting for it across the food system.

@StarbucksWorkersUnited has called for a boycott of Starbucks to support their workers. our tiny, mighty member-governed grocery co-op has been preparing for this moment for years. our members have met with worker leaders at local Starbucks to talk about their union campaigns — and how their work *actually* looks in practice...going back all the way to 2022. they've even hosted intimate meals with the union's founding leadership, including @JazBrisack — to say nothing of our collaborations with the @PeetsLaborUnion and @VerveWorkersUnited.

the tl;dr ? brave workers are fighting collective food justice struggles...in our neighborhood. in our local coffee shops. and in order to win the basic dignity they — and all food systems workers — deserve...they need support from their community.

the Collective is lucky to enjoy self-determination as a student organization through our cooperative structure...it's incumbent upon us to support nearby struggles to secure the similar rights for people all across the food system.

Igor Tregub is running for reelection to Berkeley’s City Council in District 4. He is a Zionist wolf in the sheep’s clothing of a liberal Democrat, who tries to package himself as a progressive but voted to bring Flock to Berkeley and worked hard to defeat a ceasefire resolution.

He is a champion of Ukrainian rights and performative platitudes like “None of us are free until we are all free,” but cannot say the word Palestinian, let alone genocide when discussing what he calls the “Israel-H*mas conflict.” His first act after getting elected was to fire a 20 year long serving Peace & Justice Commissioner because she favored a ceasefire resolution and replace her with a pro-Israel ideologue.

As Chair of the Alameda County Democratic Party, Tregub embodies the broken disconnect between the Democratic establishment and its rank and file. It’s time to send the hypocrite packing and bring integrity back to Berkeley.

This November 3rd: Reject Zionism and Igor Tregub at the ballot.
