Handle With Care

A reflection on how we shape ourselves for the world to see — bending, editing, and sometimes losing parts of who we are in the process. Handle With Care speaks about fragility and the self, about the need to protect what’s real when everything around us asks to be performed.

Second time shortlisted for the British Photography Awards — unbelievably happy! 🖤
Now I need a little help from you, my friend — please go to the link in my bio, open, scroll down and hit VOTE 🗳️
Only 8 days left — let’s make history together! 🥳😀

"My top abstract and semi-abstract Sri Lankan artist, Anoma, is a formidable powerhouse—especially among female artists in Sri Lanka. I believe there are few, if any, who produce more solid work than she does. How can you recognize her art? Her semi-abstract figures, often spectral and genderless, move through what I describe as psychic landscapes, creating a sense of constant motion and depth."

'The Fires of Time' - mixed media on paper (2008). Jana Manuelpillai offers his thoughts on this painting, which was originally sold by the Noble Sage Collection, London, and resold in 2023. Once again, Jana explains my works more viscerally and with more nuance than most!

Here's Jana Manuelpillai explaining my painting from the series 'The Earth is Not Owned by the Father, but Borrowed from His Children' - which was shown in London in 2019, at the Camden Image Gallery as part of the Noble Sage Collection.
The painting is currently with the Noble Sage Collection London.

I’ve submitted some paintings to the @livingstonestives Open Call.
.
This is Porthmeor Beach at Low Tide oil on canvas 51cm x 51cm.
.
I spent some time sitting on the beach watching the tide go out sketching the patterns left in the sand and enjoying the wonderful surf. It is a favourite beach in a wonderful place near the far west of Cornwall where the history of artists and fishermen living side by side reflects my childhood memories when the harbour was still full of fishing boats and my father took me to the church to see the work of the St Ives Art Society. It has been wonderful to revisit this favourite place and to have the opportunity to send my artworks to this amazing Art Gallery I visit most times I travel down to St Ives from Kent where I now live
.
I shall be posting more of my paintings I have submitted and look forward to seeing the exhibition. 🤞

Installing with Blank Space @theblankspaceinstall

‘Creative Space’ will be on display at Camden Image Gallery between 28th February - 2nd March 2024

Evening Reception: Thursday 29th February, 5pm - 7:30pm

Opening hours:
- 28th February 11am - 4pm
- 29th February, 1st & 2nd March, open 11am - 6pm

SPACE and Arlington, owned by One Housing, part of Riverside, formed a partnership in 2010 providing twelve visual artists’ studios, plus a creative workshop programme for residents of Arlington and other homeless schemes in Camden.

Aside from the social and therapeutic benefits, what comes out of these workshops is artwork of a high quality and the opportunity for residents to progress onto further education and work in the arts.

Each year The Creative Space produces an exhibition showcasing the work they have produced in art, textiles, writing / magazine, music, photography, graffiti workshops. This year the Creative Space expanded into seven other supported accommodation and community centres owned by One Housing/Riverside

For the second year we have collaborated with the Illustrated Ape working together to produce an Arlington edition of the cult magazine.

The exhibition will include an open studio for SPACE artists who have art studios at Arlington.

Opening reception last night at Camden Image Gallery with Sandra Cardona, Lizzie Crawford, Frances Clarke, Roni Doppelt, Paul Zawadzki, Toni Zelter. Thanks to Elena Chimonas and her staff.
January 31 -February 11, 2024 Gallery hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 6 pm Camden Image Gallery, in collaboration with MyMicroGallery, is delighted to announce, “The Healing Gaze” an exhibition curated by Stefania Carrozzini, composed of six artists from Germany , England and United States .
In this exhibition, the artists offer different visual approaches to personal emotional experiences translated into their own distinctive expressive language between digital and painting.
The Healing of the Gaze in art implies the therapeutic and transformative potential of visual experiences. It suggests that engaging with art can be a healing process, offering emotional, spiritual, or psychological nourishment through the act of perceiving and contemplating visual expressions.
