“I am not interested in just making movies for the marketplace. If I’m just trying to make a buck, I would have gone into finance, real estate, or tech. There are a lot of better things to do than make movies if you’re just trying to make money.”

Filmmaker @cameronvanhoy has worked with industry greats including Andy Garcia, Nicolas Cage, and J.K. Simmons—but as an artist, he refuses to compromise his vision.

“It is a very important role that the artist plays in society, and they have to stick to their guns and take chances and be risky.”

After 20 years in Hollywood, Cameron opens up about having his movies “taken away,” sleeping in the desert surrounded by lizards during a $200K shoot, and what it really takes to make a film on your own terms.

We also get into Hollywood’s culture wars, self-censorship, cancel culture, and why Cameron is surprisingly optimistic about the future of AI in filmmaking.

🎥 In this episode:

▪️ Working with Jon Lovitz
▪️ What it actually means to “produce” a movie
▪️ Why the second act is the hardest part to write
▪️ How to get a sales agent—and why you need one
▪️ The truth about cancel culture and rock music

New episode is now available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple 💫

Nothing says ‘Great Summer Movie’ like Mantervention! ☀️ Hard to focus on the comedy when Travis Van Winkle is on screen, but it’s the perfect high-energy flick for a hot day! 🌊😎 #Mantervention #OntoTheNext #Bromance #romcom #summervibes
